Officially confirmed for February.

In the dark places of the world, the Beastmen have been gathering in number and in February they will unleash their rage on the Warhammer world with renewed vigour. A feral army of twisted monsters, the Beastmen have inhabitant the dark forests and wild places of the world since such places existed. To lead a Beastmen army is to field vast herds of braying, brutish beasts who worship Chaos in all its forms, and who fight to level the civilised world.

This will be the first time ever that the Beastmen have had their own, completely stand-alone, army list. The forthcoming Warhammer Armies: Beastmen is full of twisted monsters old and new, and an all-new lore of magic. The Beastmen are the original inhabitants of the Old World: in February 2010 they come to reclaim it from the hands of Men.

Apologies if this isn't breaking news.

Good heavens I am happy now. I cannot wait for them to come out and I am also happy I didn't spend all my cash on skaven(not to say they are any less cool). Time to start saving! I love beasts they have always been an army close to my heart(well as close as a slobbering horde of the true children of chaos can be).

On a side note, cool cover art.

Hmm... chest is a bit pink, I always think beastmen as being darker skinned.

Anyway, unlike Luna, I shall remain loyal to my rats and crush these upstarts with overwhelming numbers and lots of cheese.

Beastmen in mythology (Minotaurs, Satyrs and the like) are typically depicted as mostly human with animal heads/limbs.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Yes but beastmen in WHFB are typically depicted as anthropomorphic animals.

No they aren't.

They're 'Beastmen', as in half-man and half-beast, not furries.

They can be if you prefer that. Beastmen are a race were skin colour is not set in stone (like greenskins). The Beastmen were "pink" in 1st to 4th edition, the dark skinned beastmen originated in 5th edition when Realm of Chaos got a new box-set. The 4th edition halberd-wielding beasts were some of my first warhammer figures, on the box-lid they were painted with elf or dwarf flesh. AFAIK skin colour can depend on their patron chaos god too. Paint the skin blue or yellow and they're Tzeentchian, Red or black for Khorne etc.

Herohammer was invented by players on a budget

Yes ok, I stand down in the face of your well structured argument.

It's another "sunny" cover as well. There's been a bit of a trend for these in the current army book cycle. Even the skaven cover which shows a subterranean battle, has rays of sunlight breaking in from a hole in the cavern roof.

I reckon it's so the kids don't get nightmares.

Dark skinned or fair skinned, I just wonder how powerful a guy must be to have screaming heads for his genitals. Kinda goes against the "not giving kids nightmares" argument.

In any case, will they still have Dragon Ogres? More importantly, will I be able to get cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing Dragon Ogres for my WoC army?

How is this all that different to "Beasts of Chaos"? Every single troop choice in that is a Beastman anyway, except for Warhounds.

That is a genuine question, not a criticism, by the way?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Supposedly:
1) Loss of the Chaos beasts. No more Dragon Ogres, no more Chaos Trolls, none of that. If it ain't a Beastman or something like that, it's gone.
2) Fluff change. Beastmen are apparently the original race on WHFB Old World now.
3) New Lore, which implies that bye-bye Marked Shamans and say hello to Lore Of Beast(men) casters.

Or basically: You're skirmishing Skaven on a 25mm base.

Especially behind him the guy with the shield right? if you ignore the shield , his right hand looks like he stabbed the leader through his torso
