I've been lurking around dakka for a while, mostly reading the
40k tactics section, and finally decided to make an account. So hi!
I hail from Canberra, Australia and play with Jihallah who seems to post here a lot these days.
I was weaned on
40k 2nd ed and have recently started playing again after a near-decade hiatus. Dragging around all my minis for 10 years has paid off!
I am currently playing guard although i also have space marines, orks, eldar and nids. I also have an empire
whfb army and lots of epic scale stuff.
Enjoying 5th ed although i have mixed feelings of the ultra-mechness thats going on. While it is great to see transports being used (especially on
meqs ,who you almost never saw rocking rhinos in 2nd and early 3rd ed), it sometimes feels like you have no real choice but to mech. Footslogging marine armies dont seem to stand a chance at all - my friend is trying to run such an army and he is getting mirked every game.
Overall though I think tGW have done a pretty good job with 5th ed, and I especially like not having to be ulta-careful with unit spacings to avoid sweeping advance
See you round the traps!
