Ok. do you have to target the same unit with the coaxle gun as the weapon it's attached to? Pretty simple, but causing me lots of headaches.

What happens if the coaxle weapon destroys the target before the main gun gets to fire. I know it sounds strange, but if you get all on a giga shoota it can happen very quickly.

The main gun cannot shoot.

Not quite; what you *should* do, is resolve all the hits from the co-ax weapon, then check to see if the main gun hits as well. Once you've done that, you then roll for damage for both weapons since all shooting is done simultaneously.

This is truth. Many times have I lost possible casualties due to forgetting that all weapons in a unit fire simultaneously, such as an Executioner with lascannon hull mount and plasma cannon sponsons.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

please elaborate. I'm sorry to seem slow, but this just made my day.

This is the easiest way I can see to resolve this kind of situation (assuming you're using a superheavy vehicle here):

1. The superheavy vehicle declares all of its targets before rolling any dice. Remember that the coaxial weapon must fire at the same target as its main weapon.

2. Roll to hit with the coaxial weapon.

3. Roll to hit with the main weapon.

4. Roll for damage (armour penetration or wounding) with both the main weapon and the coaxial weapon. You can roll them in separate "groups" if you like, or you can use differently-coloured dice; whatever works for you. Whichever method you use, remember that the damage results are applied simultaneously.

All it means is that even though you've fired the coaxial weapon first, you don't actually apply any damage it does until all the unit's weapons have fired.

It's just like with any normal unit: if you have a lascannon and a plasmagun firing at an enemy vehicle, they both must be declared and must be fired at the same time. You can't just fire the lascannon first and, if it destroys the target, then "forget" about firing the plasmagun (in case it overheats or even causes more damage to the vehicle).

So using the method that Cheexsta describes, lets say multiple 6's have been rolled on the damage table meaning, that the vehicle explodes more than once. (in this scenario i am not attacking a super heavy with structure points, just a regular vehicle.) Would the vehicle then explode several times or just once?

Just the once.
Damage stops with the first vehicle destroyed result.

Since all guns fire at the same time, this is what I and my gaming buddies do:

When firing a co-axial weapon:

1. Fire co-axial gun.

2. Declare where the main gun is landing(before scatter)

3. If the target is wiped out by the co-axial gun, Scatter the template from where it was supposed to start initially

4. Hope that it scatters and hits another enemy unit.

Hope that was helpful!

What you are doing is incorrect - you can roll to hit and wound with the co-ax and then hit and wound with the main gun.

The wounds must all be resolved at the same time (can make a big differene for wound allocation.)
