I've recently played a game against Necrons and was decimated by the 2 monoliths. After looking through the ork codex i was surprised to find how ill-equiped i was for dealing with them. Rokkit Launchas are next to ineffective, as are boomguns. I am left with zzap guns and the shokk attack gun, neither of which have good chances either. I'm just wondering if the Living Metal rule affects Power Klaws as neither of us are too sure.

...tanks from the 23rd and 48th batallion were flanked by tanks from the enemies' 56th batallion. It was then that General Smedfordshire revealed his secret weapon: a slightly larger tank.

power klaws work just fine you'll ether be hitting the at str10 from a boss or str8 from a nob (furious charge may give you str9 suggest asking in YMDC)

edit just to point out but really you want to ignore the monolith and aim for phase out

Thanks Tri! I was told that Living Metal meant no close combat attacks could harm it. Hmmmm, i feel a rematch is in order...

From the FAQ
Q. Does a model with a powerfist/claw that
attacks a Monolith get to double its Strength for
armour penetration rolls?
A. Yes, powerfists/claws, thunder hammers, and so on still double their user’s Strength when
attacking a Monolith.

.... sounds like guy you played had the old Necron codex and didn't update it with the printed errata.

Last time i checked, str bonuses get added on after doubling strength, so a nob is str 4(5) on the charge, with a klaw he's str 8(9) on the charge.

I'd double check that on in a rule book/YMDC though, but I'm 99.9% sure thats how it works. Same with Toughness for instant death (marine on a bike is T4(5), so still gets ID from a Krak missile, for example)

Thanks! also i've been having trouble gettin into combat, my Kustom Force Field is having little success :(
Any advice on getting close to the monoliths as his gauss flux arc is giving me some trouble.

Trukks or Battle wagons. They move up 12" you deploy 2" from the front (if you think you need it Waaagh for fleet) assualt 6". Total distance 20"+

(also my point was i can't remember if furious charge give the strength bonus against monoliths)

Ignore it and try to force phase out, if you can. Orks generally suck at AV14.

Nob squad 5 strong in a trukk with a warboss, 2-3 fists for nobs + boss fist. Trukk covered with other vehicles or KFF. Around 15 attacks so you usually get about 4 penetrating/glancing hits.

Colonel Hermann Winter's Armoured fist 1500 pts.
Armored battlegroup 1750 pts.
Death korps of Krieg 4000 pts.

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

Mono's are annoying most of the time.
Usually its best to ignore them, but some people will still gun them down from tmie to time.

If you want to ignore them: Take snikrot and a full sized unit of kommandos. Use him for getting into early combat with warriors units.

Maybe even take 2 more units to make sure you have enough strength there.

Stormboyz are not the most stable unit (ok, 1 or 2 may die on the way) but a large unit is capable of high speed movement towards the enemy, and if you drag them into combat you have pretty much won.

Bikers are the same really, but less of a punch.

Nob bikers - High power unit, run 7 or so with a painboy, 5 big choppas, 2 klaws, waaagh! banner and the usual crap.
May be points heavy, but they are fast and have a real kick to em.

Add in a warboss to above unit with a klaw and you can actually try and hunt the mono instead of ignoring it.

If you must kill it: Get a small unit of boyz, buy them a trukk, take a unit of tankbustas and let them ride in it.
Failing that, use a wagon instead.
Thier 2 S10 hammers should more than do the job.

Kan swarm: not the cheapest option, but 9 kanz will cause chaos on the table, however, they are slow and sitting ducks until they can get into combat.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.
