Ok now I really haven't messed around with beast. For instance, I see on a Tau Kroot hound that he has a voracious jaw and claws. Does this mean that they have an additional close combat weapon? Also, when looking at the Gargantuan squigoth, says he has no weapons other than huge tusks, fangs and stomping feet? Does he have an additional close combat weapon? Furthermore, what does stomping feet mean? I cant find it in the appendix or in any special rules.

It's just fluff. They have no weapons classed as close combat weapons (special or otherwise), so they just make the attacks on their profile (plus any bonus ones applicable, such as from Assaulting etc).

QFT Anything listed outside the model's special rules, gear, or statline is irrelevant.

Rules state that all models are assumed to be equipped with close combat weapons.

BTW, Kroot hounds aren't beasts, they are infantry. I think.

Provide us with the quote or page number. Kroot hounds, krootoxen, drones, crisis suits, stealth suits, fire warriors, vespids, pathfinders, sniper teams and broadsides don't have close combat weapons. And, of course, all the tau vehicles which are also models.

Cptn. Waaagh! wrote:BTW, Kroot hounds aren't beasts, they are infantry. I think.

That's correct.

All non-vehicle models get 1 Close Combat attack...granted I can't think of a listing for this. If you want to count that as a Close Combat weapon, go ahead.
The only thing of significance is when they are listed as having 2 Close Combat Weapons...so the point is irrelevant really.

That doesn't make any sense at all.

It does in that the only way you can take kroot hounds is with at least 10 kroot. I would love to field a unit of kroot hounds as beasts, with perhaps 1 kroot to guide them, but that's not how it works.

It's not irrelevant in that adding a weapon would be saying "i now have 2 close combat weapons and therefore gain an attack" when in fact you have 1.

Ridcully, you are conflating CCW with single handed CCW. Granted, GW tends to be less than clear also.

For example, a rifle butt is considered a CCW, but a rifle butt and pistol will not give a +1 attack.

Read what I wrote.

Unless it is listed to have two CC weapons, then the Original Poster's question is irrelevant. If a Carnifex is said to have "8 Million Claws on It's Body" in the description, but isn't given two CC weapons...then the description is moot.

A carnifex with 8 million claws on its body? I would pay to see that.

Ok my original question is good questoin to ask, becuase when you look at a units profile, i.e ork boy says he has for weapons a choppa and a slugga, but when you look at some other units that are melee oriented you see things like virocious bite and claws. Furthermore, even more puzzleing when you look at the ork squigoth says he has fangs, tusks and stomping feet. I means wtf is that supposed to mean. I have been told there is some stomping feet rule somewhere, but have yet to find it. Still If a creature has 2 claws in each hand isnt that the same as having an additional close combat weapon.

I am not to think that if a carnifex had 8 million claws he would get 8 million attacks. The problems is GW puts things like this into the weapons section and its screws with ya thinking that there is something there when theres not much.
