Hey everyone, I'm trying to start Warhammer 40k when I can. I currently only have a Sisters of Battle squad and the Witch Hunters codex but I want to build up a Sisters of Battle army when I can and learn to play. I've been into hobby gaming forever, starting with trading card games, but Warhammer seems like the best hobby strategy game and I think I'd really like it once I got to play it. I quit Magic the Gathering recently because of the new cards, commercialism and mechanics and would rather spend money on Warhammer. I also play Dungeons and Dragons with friends and have been DMing a 3.5 campaign for a while now. Anyway, I'm very new to Warhammer and this site and I'm really interested in both.

Welcome to dak dak¡¡¡¿¿¿¡¡¡¿¿¿ You picked a great game for strategy and the best way to learn how to play is to read the rulebook a few times and jump in and play some small 500 pt. games to get a handle on the game and move up from there.

Thanks for the welcome and advice I'll try to get the rulebook soon and enough models to start playing 500 pt. games. About how many squads would I need for one? The Witch Hunters codex says to start the army with two troop units and an HQ unit but is there more I'd need for 500 pts?

First get another squad of troops then get them rhinos to ride around in. The reason being you dont want them stuck out in the open getting picked off. For the HQ look through your codex and find thew one cheapest pointwise. I dont know witchunters very well so if you post in 40k discussions and start a new thread on what to buy for this army you might get a better response as this section isnt frequented as much as 40k discussions.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have a good idea on what I'd like for HQ and thanks for the advice on the Rhino, because I wasn't positive on using one or not. Btw, do you know if the witchhunters have their own Rhino unit or not?

What you do is buy them as part of the squad so each rhino is separate and you cant put two squads in the same rhino at the same time. So you buy the squad and buy the rhino as a dedicated transport for that squad. No problem with the help.

As an army commander I'm the secret informer to the Canonesses of the Adepta Soritas. And you're right Turbo10K, I stay out of war. The Imperium can't have knowledge of what I reveal to the Sisters of Battle.

I will man once I have one. I'm trying to build up a good SoB army once I get the chance, but all I have right now is an unbuilt and unpainted sisters of battle squad. Lawl. I'm starting the academy on December 6th so I'll finally be able to start Warhammer 40k then.
