I was in one the other day and it just seemed a little off to me. For starters I wiped out all of my opponents including the 'champion' and only came in second because of some supposed VP conditions so I thought I'd drop some questions here. I was using Karmans Nova and lost a grand total of 3 gorillas all day. I come from the GW/PP style tournaments so maybe I didn't get how these work.

- There where random pairings and none of that winner vs. winner fairness

-In the first game we were supposed to camp out near some nanogenerators and earn VP every turn. My opponent was using Red Block Frontline and I wiped out his AFV's so he lost. We both had equal VP at the time but apparently this ends the game immediately and I didn't get the remaining VP's for the mission.

-In the last game I nova jammered an AFV and took control of it. This was ruled that I never eliminated it and when the opponent killed his own damaged AFV he got the VP's. This seemed exactly opposite of how it should have worked.

So was I just too ruthless and dumb or does the judge need a serious helping of his in the ?

Currently there are no official tournament rules for AT-43. The game was designed around scenarios and story absed play.

Did the tournament holder have a set of rules for which scoring would be handled?

VP's only- wins didn't mean anything.

i have not YET been able to play in tournaments, however I concur with your complains as they seem not really though the way they pair people. In the case of winning by killing AFV (Frontline) i do agree that you can win by killing completely, however I WOULD have given you the maximum VP (there are some rules like that in Frostbite)

Concerning the NOVA ability I concur with you, thats was a Scheiße ruling and the organizers should re-consider this...

While I think the problem is with the organizers rather than the game I suggest you try the following webpage http://at-43.co.uk/ this guys reguklarly organize tournaments

and in the official Froum there are some guys in Sweden and so on that had played on tournaments

We have been running monthly tournaments in the UK for almost a year now and we have learned a lot during that time.

Seeing that AT-43 is a Victory Points based game we always declare the winner of the tournaments by looking at total vp for the day.
Pairings are done based on wins so that as the day goes on you face players of your level.

If you wipe out your opponent (or destroy all AFVs in the case of Frontline) then you get a bonus number of VP based on the round of the game you managed it. Later in the game the bonus will be less as you had a lot of time.

So far this system has worked well and it has given us the opportunity to organise the 2009 UK Championships in just over a week.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Three questions for AT-43.co.uk

1. How big play surface do you use.

2. how much terrain do you use.

3. What size games?

4. Can you use Damocles equipment?

5. How do Red Blok cope with the above set ups you have.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

In response to the questions by Orlanth

1. How big play surface do you use.
The boards we use ar 2 by 4 foot with missions being played in various directions.

2. how much terrain do you use.
The maps on the website only show the objectives and this is done so that anybody can play the game using their own collection of terrain.
We normally have around 6 extra blocks (container size) and about 6 low walls.

3. What size games?
Our tournaments are played with 2000ap armies (1500/500 split) However we have used the missions on the same size boards up to 3000ap.

4. Can you use Damocles equipment?
We don't allow any of the Damocles equipment but you can use everything from Frostbite.

5. How do Red Blok cope with the above set ups you have.
Red Blok armies tend to do well in our tournaments and the boards and missions don't effect them in a negative way (can't say they have a positive effect apart from Mission Warehouse Bash as that seems easier for Frontline than for any other army).

Hope that helps.
