Has anyone tried this scheme for Orcs?
1) To start the model Nick applied a series of basecoats. He painted the skin using Orkhide Shade, the metal areas with Boltgun Metal and the Orcs boots with a 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Bestial Brown. All the straps were painted with Scorched brown. Lastly he highlighted the black areas, such as the Orc's trousers and jacket, with a 50/50 mix of Codex Grey and Chaos Black.
2) Nick sarted the second stage by washing the metal and straps with Badab Black - relying on is trusty hairdryer to help the wash dry quickly. Next he applied a wash of watered-down Chaos Black to the recesses on the boots. With the washes dry, Nick layered Knarloc Green onto the Orcs skin, taking care to leave the layer beneath showing through in the recesses. Finally he highlighted the black areas with Codex Grey.
3) For the third stage, Nick applied a series of highlights - he highlighted the black areas with Fortress Grey, the metal with Boltgun Metal, the straps with Scorched Brown and the boots with Graveyard Earth. Finally he added another layer to the Orc's skin, this time using Goblin Green.
4) In this, the final stage, Nick added some last highlights to the model. He highlighted the Orc's skin with a 50/50 mix of Goblin Green and Bleached Bone, followed by a very careful highlight of pure Bleached Bone. He highlighted the metal with Chainmail, the straps with a 50/50 mix of Scorched Brown and Bleached Bone and the boots with Kommando Khaki.
5) The Orc's face is especially detailed we thought it was worth focussing on how the face and teeth were tackled. Like the rest of the Orc's skin, the face was basecoated with Orkhide Shade. The teeth were painted with Tausept Ochre.
6) Just as the rest of the Orc's skin, the second stage of the face was to layer the skin with Knarloc Green. The teeth were feathered with Kommando Khaki.
7) In line with the rest of the model the skin was layered with Goblin Green. The teeth were feathered with Bleached Bone. Nick also carefully painted the Orc's eyeballs with Scab Red.
8) In the final stage the skin was highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Bleached Bone and Goblin Green, then with pure Bleached Bone. The teeth were highlighted with Skull White and the Orc's eye was painted with a dot of Blood Red. Nick then gave the bottom lip a wash of Baal Red (it's important that this comes after the highlighting, so that the wash sits on top of the lighter Bleached Bone) and the area around the eye was washed with Leviathan Purple.
1) To start the model off, Nick basecoated the Goblin's skin with Knarloc Green. Once this was dry he washed the skin with Thraka Green. He then painted the trousers and spear shaft with Scorched Brown, the metal with Tin Bitz, the teeth with Graveyard Earth and the bootstraps with a 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Bestial Brown. Lastly, he highlighted the black clothing (such as the boots and the Goblin's jerkin) with a 50/50 mix of Codex Grey and Chaos Black.
2) With the paints from the first layer thoroughly dry, Nick commenced the second stage. He began by layering Goblin Green onto the Goblin's skin, taking care to leave the darker tone from the previous stage showing through in the recesses. Nick then highlighted the black cloth with Codex Grey and the teeth with Kommando Khaki. The metal was layered with Boltgun Metal and the spear shaft was layered with Bestial Brown. Nick then washed the trousers with Badab Black and washed thinned down Chaos Black into the recesses on the boot straps. Lastly, Nick painted the Goblins eye with Scab Red.
3) In the third stage Nick started by highlighting the Goblin's skin with a mix of Goblin Green, Golden Yellow and Bleached Bone (equal parts of each). He then highlighted the trousers with Scorched Brown, the black cloth with Fortress Grey and the metal with Chainmail. The bootstraps were highlighted with Graveyard Earth and the Teeth with Bleached Bone. Finally, Nick layered the spear shaft with Graveyard Earth and painted the Goblin's eye with Blood Red.
4) To complete the model a final series of highlights were added. The skin was highlighted with Bleached Bone and the trousers were highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Scorched Brown and Bleached Bone. The boot straps and spear shaft were highlighted with Kommando Khaki and the teeth were highlighted with Skull White. Finally a Devlan Mud was washed onto the metal parts and Baal Red was carefully washed onto the Goblin's bottom lip and eye sockets.
1) To start with, the wood of the shield was drybrushed with a 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey. The skull in the centre of the shield was painted with Graveyard Earth and the metal pins in the wood were painted with Boltgun Metal.
2) Next, the wood was drybrushed with Codex Grey, the metal was highlighted with Chainmail and the skull was layered with Kommando Khaki.
3) In this stage, the wood was drybrushed with Fortress Grey and the skull was layered with Bleached Bone.
4) Finally the wood was washed with Badab Black and the skull was highlighted with Skull White.
