Well, I've been aspiring to do something like this for quite a while now, but due to the fact I live in the middle of no-where... Having such materials weren't all too readily available.

So I ordered some from the internet.

Baught two big tubes of the green stuff and started to poke away at it by doing my first miniature (A bit of a rendition of the rat himself~). Its a bit too big for warhammer scale but hey, I'm learning.

So far, i've only got the head done at the moment, and i'm pretty content about what i've been able to do so far. Wishing I could make it smoother though!

Heres some piccies. Just note I 'just' added the tail, not shown in these pics.

Size to an ork (should've rotated~) :

And some angles of where I am now.

Yeah, I'll update this as soon as I get further, I do plan on painting this.

Any tips or suggestions? My main concern right now is getting a really softer look than what I have now.

Thanks for lookin!

This looks great :-P At first I thought you had plopped a GW Skaven head on to the putty, then I realized you did it! Great job!

@Pherion

Thanks! I did look over a Clanrats head for reference on how they put together the face and added my own styling to it. so I can't exactly claim 100% originality on my part. Haha.

@Flashman

Thanks! Heres an update for you then

Alright, so, Just got home and settled down at the worktable, pinched off some Yellow and blue stuff and started mixing. I'm hoping to have some work done on the upper body by the end of the night so I can start painting by this weekend.

Did a quick doodle on how i'm hoping to have this come out as.

And a Scale comparison to one of my clanrats.

Having tons of fun with this, So i'm gonna flag this thread to get put into the proper 'Painting/modeling blog' forum.

Expect more updates in the following hours!

Finally got down to the sleeves. Kinda annoyed how the picture killed the detail of them. They're a lot less messy than it seems in the photographs.

But oh well, It'll soften out a bit I hope.

I've added a bit more since this picture (made the outer sleeve a bit more loose looking and added some fur to the base of the tail. Thats about it though. Still got a long way to go.

Cure faster damnit! Cure! Cure!

Man, i'm hooked.

I don't have photos to update at this very moment but i've gotten a bit farther, starting to work on the lower body and legs now. Wish I had learned this earlier, but using an eraser is actually a great way to create smooth surfaces on greenstuff putty.

Might be putting off orks and skaven for a while 'till I finish this. Hahaha.

Thanks guys!

Learned a lot so far... Next model I'll make will have to be done in peices, I see a lot of GS sculpters are taking this approach.

Now, i'm curious. I've got another thread going, but would it be possible to cast a painted object? if I were to prime this miniature and then cast it in the future that is...
