I would suggest more destroyers, maybe cut your warriors down to squads of 10, or dropping a heavy destroyer unit (or both). Otherwise, when those three die, that's it for them.

I like the first list a lot more, you need those stronger guns.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

Drop a few warriors and a heavy destroyer and get a monolith on the first list. also you need some cc, maybe flayed ones

Necrons in CC?

Right...

(drop lightning field, not worth the points because its every unsaved wound and you dont want to loose that many of those without scarabs around, maybe ressurection orb it has nice synergy with phylactory, why do you need a warsythe, do you plan on assaulting tanks and TH/SS termies? I'm not trying to be sarcastic either.)

Troops
necron warriors, 15 270
necron warriors, 15 270
necron warriors, 15 270

(drop to 10 each, keep two squads in reserve you might drop the last one, but you dont have to, warriors are not good in the current edition)

Fast Attack
destroyers, 3 150

(you need more to take advantage of WBB rules, at least another squad of 3)

Heavy Support
heavy destroyers, 2 130
heavy destroyers, 2 130
heavy destroyers, 2 130

(lots of heavy destroyers, most people prefer destroyers due to volume of fire but definitely keep 2 sqauds of 2 at least if you field any)

this list is not that great, i would suggest dropping a warrior squad, dropping them all to 10, getting a ressurection orb, maybe dropping the other lord and grabbing immortals and possibly another monolith

Dont take any necron CC units unless you are going to go that route, 9 wraiths can be awesome, a unit of flayed ones... not so much.

Drop all warrior squads to 10. You dont want any more than that in a squad because the easiest way to loose a squad to have a sweeping advance come and kill you and warriors really cannot do much in the current game. How often do you see people run away afraid because of bolters, and you cant really kill tanks any more. Stop them from shooting yes, kill them, good luck.

You should now have 270 points to play with, go out and buy more normal destroyers (5). Now you have a few options, you can switch out 2 heavy destroyers for 3 destroyers and be done with it.

Otherwise you can fiddle with things and get a ctan (i recommend the deciever), if you were using your lords for assault then i would go with a ctan, he is awesome at holding down one side and can really hurt most units, and if he is in a fight with a unit he shouldn't be, then you can just move out of combat, its great!

You could also try to fit in a monolith, drop 2 heavy destroyers add a monolith and 3 normal destroyers.

Ok, so i have tried to take your advice on the list, I don;t want to use a c'tan, mainly because this army is going to be the list for my DR. WHO Cybermen conversion army, once I get the list banged out I will know what I am going to do for the conversions.

This comes at a lovely 1500 points, I see the warrior squads moving forward a bit to cover the monolyth and the heavy destroyers as the destroyer squad with the lord slide around a flank as protection or as a harrasing force to push some of their men into mine.

Your Monolyth doesnt need any cover what so ever. Its really hard to bring one of those beasts down and you want to protect your warriors more than anything because your army is in threat of a phase out.

I would drop a warrior squad and only run 30 warriors total.

get 2 full squads of destroyers and i would say your set. You really need fast mobile units and like i said you need to keep your warriors covered or in reserve.

Destroyers are key to any necron army...get more of them =)

Much better, but still i would drop 10 warriors, most necron players, myself included, try to design lists with the smallest amount of necron warriors possible while still being able to capture objectives, we then put said necron warriors in reserve in order to protect them from the enemy (for phase out and objective capturing purposes). 40 warriors just doesnt pack much of a punch, which is necessary because assault troops will rip through your squads if they get into CC with you. (they are 10 low initiative marines, without a sargent and no powerfist/powersword upgrade)

If you think you need 30 warriors then keep 30, i try with 20 and put both in reserve but sometimes it gets a little hairy, the key is to try to contest most of the other objectives with your forces. 40 is really probably too much (more destroyers to take advantage of WBB, 3 is just too easy to kill and then no WBB :()

*edit he beat me to it, but i agree pretty much with everything, if you want another unit on the ground with the warriors take a squad of immortals and drop the destroyers, 3 just wont win you anything, if you do that then i would suggest making the necron lord have a res orb and walk with the immortals and warrior squads. Its a phalanx army, good in 3rd and 4th edition, much worse in 5th.

OK, so I have taken my troops out in lieu of more destroyers and another lord, each goes with a squad of decrons, and are made to make cc a little more annoying.

as for the destroyers and heavy destroyers, i think i may just start the army in a corner with the monolith and the warriors in reserve and move the entire force from one side to the other to wipe the enemy.

Try:

Lord, Res Orb: [140]

10x Warriors: [180]
10x Warriors: [180]
10x Warriors: [180]

5x Destroyers: [250]
5x Destroyers: [250]

2x Heavy Destroyers: [130]
2x Heavy Destroyers: [130]
1x Heavy Destroyer: [65]

Its basically a modified version of your list without the mono.
