Grim Rune Priest in the Eye of the Storm

I have played a few games with my Blood Claws now. The 1st game was a disaster, mostly from bad dice. 15 man BC unit 2 Flamer [If you don’t do that shame on you], Power Fist, Plasma Pistol, with a WGPL [MotW] and a Wolf Priest. They got caught in turn 2 by a Vanguard unit, failed my Counter Attack LD check and then lost the CC by 8 and nerfed all of my saves.
In the 3 games since then things have gotten better, the same basic load, the only real change was I traded out the Power Fist for a Power Sword. I have the Wolf Priest use his Oath of War [Infantry] and charge towards infantry squads. Usually on the flank I have Ragnar with a Grey Hunter Pack. By the game end either Ragnar is out or his Grey Hunters are at least destroyed. However my Blood Claws have survived and destroyed at least two units.
My Conclusions:
-As 5-10 man packs: I completely agree that they are not worth the price
- As 15 men packs: Blood Claws have turned out to be durable and very effective. They can be slow, but if you run them the first turn when are most likely out of range anyways, they can be in range on turn 2 then they can get there charge off.
-You need to give them a Wolf Guard Pack Leader at the very least. You don’t have to spend a lot, Melta-Bombs, Power/Frost Weapons or MotW will do.
-If you can give them a Wolf Priest, Do It!
-I wish I could figure how to get a MotW in there, but after the last couple of games I can see why they don’t.
-You Need Grey Hunters in there, I would say 1-GH/1-BC or 2-GH/1-BC. Though if can pull off the figs I may try a Blood Claw Army [6 BC, 3 Swiftclaws/Skyclaws]
If you have not been convinced just try them a few times.

I'm looking forward to taking them in a land raider crusader with a Wolf Priest leading them. Good to know someone is using them effectively.

Think about 3 of them, this is just a nasty thing I came up with
LRC/ BC/WP
10"
LRC/ HG/Ragnar[2 Wolves]/WGPL/ MotW {War Howl}
10"
LRC/ BC/WP

I think the reason ragnar etc is dead is because he is a very nasty soab. I have run the claws a few time but when I have I put them with Ulrik and had some pretty good success. My BC are in a similar build except I keep the fist instead of the sword due to Ulrik having it.

As a Infantry Hunter a noraml Wolf Priest is Better.
Ulric does not have the advantage of Oath of War.

Agreed but he gives my guys with a ws of 3 a better shot vs the tough stuff with the rerolling of wounds and to hit.

The one that was nerfed as a leader is Ragnar, you have a 1 in 3 chance of having less attacks. He does have War Howl however. This is why I started running him parallel to one or two BC packs. If I can time my Assaults correctly I can really inflict some heavy damage on one turn.

I haven't tried Ragnar with BC because I didn't want to take away their attack. I ran Ragnar with WG to give the squads the ability for more attacks and the use of better weapons up close.

This can be really effective
Wolf Standard
Ragnar
WGPL with MotW
Grey Hunter with MotW
Ragnar mixed with the Wolf Standard has the right Synergy
Pop the Wolf Standard / Ragnar lets out his War Howl
-Everyone is I5 [Rangar and his 2 Wolves are I6 if there is a Saga of the Wolfkin in the Army]
-Ragnar can Re-Roll his 1d3
-Both the MotW can Re-Roll their 1d6+1
-Everyone can Re-Roll any ones on to hits
-Everyone can Re-Roll any ones to Wound [S 5 or 6]
-Everyone can Re-Roll any ones on Armor Saves
-You can Re-Roll your Moral Test
-You can Re-Roll you Fall Back dice
-You can Re-Roll your Sweeping Advance Die
Any Blood Claws witin 12" are S5 I5 and if you have the Wolf Priest they get to Re-Roll to hit with the right Oath of War if you got a Wolf Priest with them.
But only during that Assualt Phase
