Hi,
I know there are lots of periodic magnet threads, but could someone share a link to a good magnet provider (or several?). I listed the bases above, I'm buying magnetic trays from another Dakka member, and need to magnetize everything in my two armies (Lizardmen and High Elves). This include a rather heavy, metal oldschool dragon with a REAL rock on its' base (probably not a good idea) all the way down to skinks.
So could someone link me up? I'm just worried about having a magnet that is the right "height" (so it's not too far away from the tray, or sticking out either). And also unsure how many to use for the larger models.
Thanks!
Steve / RiTides

I use these stuck under the bases, along with a #6 washer. Small enough to fit in 20mm slot bases and still very strong.

Those look really good, MasterSlowPoke! But are they too thin? I.e. is the magnet too far from the edge of the base once it's glued in?
Is the washer under the magnet (touching the base) to raise it up more?
Cyporiean, I could be wrong but it looked like that website sells whole bases; I already have bases, and just need magnets to add to them?
Thanks Any other websites would be great, too, I'll probably be placing my order tonight (or tomorrow at latest)!

They sell magnets that stick to the bottom of your base.
Here is the link for buying square 25mm magents in sets of 10:

It odd, everytime I link to Likto the person I'm attempting to help can't find the thing I'm linking them to.

Hmm, yeah maybe that means the website is confusing? I don't know
What do you think of these, Cyporiean? So it's a larger cut magnet that fills the whole base, but is that better than a small, very strong one? Just trying to envision it
Thanks!

I can hold a unit of Metal Black Orcs upside down with them.
They have an adhesive side that sticks to the bottom of the base, but I also add a dab of superglue to that.
I'll see about taking a picture in a min.

That sounds good! How was the shipping time? It looks like it might take them some time to get it out?
I also saw a user posting about how the movement trays needed to be lined with the metal liner, not the magnet one, to work with these bases. Is that what you've done?

Okay, Couldn't locate the black orks, but here is one of my Eternal Guard units which are also all metal.
Sorry the picture is blurry, but its hard for me to keep it steady with one hand and hold something that heavy with the other.
and here is the magnet attached to the base or the Eternal Guardian.
Litko also sells 'Flex Steel' that attaches to the movement tray and gives the magnets something to stick to, thats what I used here on one of GW's Movement trays.

Hmmm I was thinking about getting a better way to magnatize my fantasy models as my current way is not very strong <.< I think Ill try those Likto things! They arent extremely expensive and will hold my metal models well (ironicly black orcs ). Thanks for the links Cyporiean!!

The magnets are 1mm thick, and a base has about 2mm clearance underneath. The washer is also about 1mm thick, so the magnets are just about flush with the bottom of the base. I carry my models around magnetized to the bottom of an aluminum case and carry that around with no drifting whatsoever.

I just ordered two of the smaller sets that MasterSlowPoke posted, since the models I already own that are magnetized are done with these small magnets. I'll try these out since they're so cheap, with some washers!
If it doesn't work out, I'll probably try the litko ones, or a similar magnet sheet type magnet.
Just to confirm- the order is base, magnet, then washer, right? And is the magnet in the exact middle (where the hole in the washer is)?

Base->Washer->Magnet. I don't know it it would make a whole lot of difference, though.
I tend to stick the magnent and washer in the "front" of the base, rather than the center. This allows you to pick up the models with a rocking motion and lessens the chance of breaking a glue bond.
