I have a question that I was hoping someone could clear up for me, if there is more that 3 in. of difficult terrain seperating a unit from an objective on all sides, would said unit be able to capture/contest said objective? I see both sides of the problem but I don't know... The problem aroused when my wave serpents/falcons flew over-ish an objective and were shot down, they formed a blockade keeping all units out of 3 in from the objective... Help will be greatly appreciated.

Well... since you can move through difficult terrain, they wouldn't block it, but they would hinder units that are trying to move within 3" of the objective.

You physically, could not place the model within 3in

Just measure 3".
There can be 2.5 inches of solid rock or impassible terrain, so long as a unit is within 3" they count.

If the model can't get within 3" it can't capture/contest. You do realize that wrecked vehicles are not impassible? They are difficult and dangerous terrain, but models can move over them.

The answer is yes you can still control and contest the objective.

But the kicker is that if you can't PHYSICALLY get within 3" of the objective you've basically denied that objective to anyone. It's a tough call but if you cannot get within 3 inches of the objective it cannot be contested nor can it be controlled. Now if it is just difficult terrain you can walk over it and be on the center of the difficult terrain.

With Wrecks you can still walk over the wrecks - it's just difficult\dangerous terrain for wrecks.

So, what would the ruling be? Not impassible, it states that a wrecked vehicle counts as difficult terrain, yes I know this, but the wrecked vehicles reached 3 inches over the objective.

Ah, I see. Are your bases glued in? In that case, it would effectively deny the objective from any units wanting it.

I wasn't implying that you are trying to cheat.

The answer, as Gwar! just said, is that if the wrecks prevent any models from coming within 3" of the objective due to their height, then that's just how it is.

However, as my wave serpents are definitely not 3" tall, especially with the base removed when they are wrecked, I'm just having a hard time envisioning the scenario.

Were they all stacked on top of each other?

That would be hilarious to see.
