Hey there,

I'm learning to sculpt miniatures at the moment, currently have a project going underway with a model right now(http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/266007.page)

I do plan on priming it and painting it once i finish this current model.

But i'd also like to replicate it in the future in casts, Is this possible if you have the model painted and the like? Or will that disturb the cast in any way? I wouldn't really care if the cast happened to ruin the paintjob though.

I would recommend casting before painting. Paint may obscure details you are attempting to cast.

Yeah, I figured that.

I'm just unsure when I'll be casting this miniature. And i'd like to have it painted as soon as I'm done it.

Any paint/primer will diminish the detail. I suggest you put painting out of your mind if you intend to cast or put casting out of your mind if you intend to paint. You need to choose what's more important to you.

Depending on the rubber used as well.
Some will strip paint effortlessly, but the gunk has to go somewhere.

MEK catalysed RTVs especially.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
