OK, so I wanted to know your favorite moments in a 40K game. Prefferably a unit performing extrodanarily and against all odds. Mine is a unit of 12 grotz and 1 rutherd killing 2 units of ratlings, one small squad of guardsmen, and killing 4 storm troopers. They were ridiculous, right up till they got incinerated by 8 flamers.

Mine would have to be the first Apoc game in which I used the Angron datasheet from WD.

That's Angron and Eight Bloodthirsters.

They killed: Three Tac Marine Squads, Lysander and some Assault Termies, a Baneblade, a Shadowsword, and a Warhound. Then they died...they were shot to death (took the guys entire army shooting at me three turns). Then they proceeded to come back with the replacements asset and wipe out two Leman Russ's and a Reaver Titan.

Believe me, coming from a Khorne player: when sh*t like that happens, you goo your pants.

Mmmmh...it's 500 points + the points for the bloodthirsters (each one fully decked out in upgrades is 300).

I took eight, so it was 2600 points of Assaulty goodness. However, you can take anywhere from a minimum of two, to a maximum of twelve.

Well, I personally haven't played yet at the store, being I have almost no models, but I've watched my GF take out 3 Land Raiders on turn one with her 3 exorcists (one each) on a 1500 game.

He forfeited as soon as that happened, how I laughed my ass off, he actually glared at me and left the store, and he had just gotten there like 15 mins ago.

I mean, he couldn't have done much, it was GK btw, so all his P.A.G.K were footslogging.

playing against thousand sons with my mech marines...

he had first round, his oblits were brutal. popped my raider, and took down my predator. my terminators ran out of the raider, into enemy fire. only my sergeant with thunder hammer survived. he charged recklessly into the enemy lines, engaging a 10 man thousands son squad with a sorceror lord attached. my sarge killed them all... by himself. even though he always struck last, he survived all their blows, making many invuln saves, and beating the crap out of them.

I promoted him to captain after that game, and he now leads the terminator squad into every large game (I don't use him at lower than 2,000 points).

One of mine was tonight... Calgar charged a Wave Serpent carrying Yriel, Eldrad, and a fair sized Seer Council, and reached up and batted it out of the sky with his PFs. It then proceeded to explode, killing both Embolden Warlocks in the unit. The thought of having to face Papa Smurf caused the squad to roll boxcars for the Pinning Check (and no Embolden anymore) leaving them hiding in the crater to be mopped up on my next turn. I felt bad for my opponent, as the odds of that were astronomical and turned a sure victory for him into loss.

Hmmm, once one of my fire dragon units shot and exploded a land raider, the resulting fireball took out 2 assault terminators standing next to it. Mmmmmm, 330 points gone. Or the time my bike-mounted autarch, while running away, took a fusion gun potshot at Typhus, the herald of nurgle (who costs 275 pts, and hadn't been scratched yet) and instakilled him right off the bat. His owner was not impressed at all!

Those don't compare to some of the things listed here already, but I enjoyed them.

My squad of screamers charged a squad of blood angels led by Lamartes, just trying to delay them for a turn or so. Instead, they kill Lemartes outright, and I think I remember them doing a little damage to the rest of the squad too. It was a great moment of "WTF?" Felt sorry for the other guy, though... it really wasn't his day for this.

I once charged 3 Death Company into a Wraithlord hoping to delay it for a turn. Instead they rip it to shreds before it can land a blow. They then went on to tear apart a banshee squad, and the last one lived to rip the head off of the Phoenix Lord Fuegan.

Not unlikely or anything, juste epic. 3X20 boyz, 10 nobz in nob squad, 2 warbosses, 1 killa kan, all in close combat with 20 space marines, 5 termies, 1 captain, 1 drednaught, and 5 orgyns. It was an crazy CC battle that could have gone either way as latter on several different squads came in, includind some deffkoptas and assault marines. In the end we called it a draw ass both armies were decimated and rolling that many dice and deciding who is and isn't within 2" of a model in base to base is exausting. If I recall correctly there was almost no shooting at all in this game.

I absolutely love duels between HQs. It makes no sense for the leaders of two respective army to beat the tar out of each other, but it's just so awesome.

Not too long ago I was playing against my buddy's Deathwing with my Orks. Warboss 'Eadkrumpa and his nobz charged Belial and his Terminator bodyguard. The nobz and Terminators traded blows back and forth, with losses on both sides. In the midst of this, Belial and 'Eadkrumpa fight one on one. Belial strikes first, and my boss' cybork body stops one wound, while two get through. One wound away from Death, he swings with his power klaw and only gets one wound. Belial fails his invulnerable save and 'Eadkrumpa krumps his 'ead. Another terminator swings and misses the warboss before getting krumped by a nob. The game ended up being a tie - if Belial or his Terminators managed to get that last wound in, 'Eadkrumpa would have bitten it and it would have been victory for the deathwing.

I have two moments that really stick out in my mind. Both involve my Tau Shas'o Commander.

In one game, I was playing a 1000 point game vs. Space Marines. I got pretty lucky that whole game (SM failed quite a few saves, and my Broadsides managed to take out a few Rhinos turn one) but the one moment that really shined was when my Shas'o got into close combat with 5 Terminators. Not a great sign, right? Apparently not. Through sheer luck of the dice, my Commander managed to single-handedly take down the entire squad of Terminators over the course of 3 Assault phases. The best part? Didn't take a single wound. He made every single save (Be it his 4+ invul or the FNP that I always give him) against the Termies, and managed to kill all 5 of them.

The second moment was when I was fighting against Orks. Once again, the Orks reached my frontlines and my Commander assaulted into a 10-man Nob squad. He didn't take a wound during that fight (Which was close; there were a couple of FNP saves in there) and barely managed to knock down a single Nob that had already taken a wound from the turn's shooting. Having lost by just one wound, the Ork player expected fully to stay in the fight for a good few turns...and then proceeded to roll boxcars on his morale test. My Shas'o then rolled 6 vs. the Nobz' 1 for Initiative, and he took down the entire squad in a Sweeping Advance.

My best moment would be when I was hanging out in our local GW shop (while one in friggn socal still was near)

This kid about 10 comes in and starts ranting on and on and on to his friends about how he is unstoppable with his nids and that he can beat anyone (using f*&k every other word to describe his supposed epicness)

Long story short he starts talking crap about Iguard to me and we end up playing. He uses the swarm tactic which from his conversation I knew he would and gets overkilled. I tell him good game and go to shake his hand, he screams at the top of his lungs with a blood lust squeal and throws his dice at me and proceeds to run out of the store cursing at the top of his lungs.

All his friends and I had a good laugh

OOH, my best 40k moment is easily the time i played a 3 player, free for all, objective game, 750 pts each. The game had Sisters of Battle, Black Templars and Eldar (me). On the 3rd turn, my "friends" decided to do a truce with each other and team up on me, to collect some more objectives. Seeing as I had THE best vantage point in the game with my pathfinders and Wraithlord, the game was almost fair, seeing as I'd killed so many of their units. Anyway, the point of me typing this was because of how awesome it was when the joint force of a full tactical marine squad, inquisitor lord and an Assault squad, teamed up on my Dire Avengers. Sadly, the Dire avengers only manage to kill 5 SM with bladestorm as a sort of pre-vengeance for their imminent death. But, the 5 shots from my rangers managed to kill the inquisitor and the missile from my EML killed everyone in the Assualt squad. no that amzing after all, but i was a hugely fun game.

Our group was really fresh to Apoc, and we were playing Orks vs Marines 8k a side. My room mate and I decided gargants and stompas looked cool. So we built some.

Both sides agreed the BoLS datasheets were ok.

Room mate built a 26'' gargant

I built 3x normal stompas, and 2x mek stompas in the formation.

Then we spent the next 7 hours realizing the mistake of that many structure points on one side. We lost 3 structure points between the whole ork side and spent the whole game chasing the poor marines into cover. Too be fair the marines were spread out and mostly out of range from the guns.

I had a venerable dreadnought win a 1 on 1 duel with Abaddon the Despoiler. He destroyed both arms and immobilized my dreadnought, but kept whiffing it every assault phase. I think he stabbed himself with his own daemon weapon twice, and the dreadnought did the rest. So many 1s...

First I'm impressed that you built that many super heavies, second, how did the marines do so little? Did they not have devastators, or landraiders? Third, how could you be out of range with a gargants weapons?

One game my kroot ate a lord commissar and some stormtroopers. Another, via shooting I liked a bloodthrister and fateweaver. Also when fighting deamons, the deamon player lost have his army to mishaps when they scattered on to my army was a good one. Against space marines, using hounds for the first time and they helped to kill a marine squad. Also when my vespid killed via shooting an outflanking shrike squad. Leaving shrike to be killed by my Shas'o. The look on everyone's face that vespid could be useful was great.
