No one ever discusses lists on here...here's the 8000 AP United Nations of Ava list I run, using the default Army Book pattern:
First Platoon -
12 Star Troopers Sgt, 2 Flamers, 2 Medics
9 Steel Troopers, Sgt, 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Medics
Wing Sniper Team
Death Dealer TacArms with Lt. G. E.)
Fire Crawler (Lt.)
Second Platoon -
12 Star Troopers Sgt, 2 Volcano MG, 2 Medics
9 Steel Troopers Sgt, 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Medics
Wing Sniper Team
Steel TacArms (Sgt)
2 Fire Toads Sgt. Borz
Third Platoon -
MedTech Unit
10 Wing Troopers, 2 Laser Guns, 2 Medics, Master Sgt, +1 extra fighter
10 Wing Troopers, 2 Laser Guns, 2 Medics, Master Sgt, +1 extra fighter
Steel TacArms (Sgt)
2 Fire Toads Captain Newton
Fourth Platoon -
Shock Troopers, Flamer
Shock Troopers, Flamer
Wing Sniper Team
Shock TacArms (Sgt)
Copperhead
Fifth Platoon -
10 Steel Troopers 2 Laser Gun, Master Sgt, +1 extra fighter
Defender Snake (Sgt)
Jam TacArms
3 Civil Engineers
8000 AP total
Any U.N.A. players in the house like the looks of that list? I have six or seven support units that I cannot find room for due to platoon pattern restrictions. I think about rotating a bunker unit in using the Frostbite costs.
It works good for the Rescue mission:
*************************
Mission 6 – Rescue
Forces Available:
Each player has equal AP available. Assault to reinforcement ratio is 3:1.
Tactical Positions:
Access Zones are Standard. No Drop Points may be placed within 30cm of the table center.
Primary Objectives:
After all Tactical Positions have been determined, put a model in the direct center of the table. This is the model to be Rescued. It may not be killed.
In order to Rescue the model, an Infantry or Soldier unit must end its movement within Coherency range. The Rescue model is then considered part of the Infantry or Soldier unit, which becomes the Escort unit. To win the game, an Escort unit must evacuate itself entirely off any table edge.
If the Escort unit is engaged in Close combat, the Rescue model is detached from the unit and must be re-acquired by an Infantry or Soldier unit. If the Escort unit is destroyed, the Rescue model is now considered Free.
At the beginning of every game Round in which the Rescue model is unescorted, it will panic due to the battle taking place around it and make a 14cm movement in a random direction. Place the template over the Rescue model and roll a d6 to determine the direction.
The Rescue model is subject to all normal terrain restrictions. It will move towards the closest entrance of a building that its path encounters. If it encounters Dangerous or Impassive terrain, it will finish its movement along the edge of that terrain element adhering as closely as possible to the direction rolled.
If it reaches a board edge it will remain on the board and finish its movement adhering as closely as possible to the direction rolled.
Secondary Objectives:
- Capturing a container or tactical position: 200 RP
- Controlling a container or tactical position: 150 RP
Cease Fire:
The game is over when the Rescue model is Evacuated from the battle, or after 6 turns on a 3’ x 3’ table, 7 turns on a 4’ x 4’ table, or 8 turns on a 4’ x 6’ table.

I am building my lists to 8k, its a large enough selection to include everything.
For Red Blok this means Frontline only, for Therians only Cyphers, but for Karmans (WIP) and U.N.A. I have multiple options.
I will best reply to your lists by posting my own, if I can copy paste from Nazgul's AT-43 army generator.
13th Strike Company
8000pt U.N.A. standard organisation.
1st Platoon
9 Steel Troopers - Sgt, 2x missile, medic and mechanic
3 Steel TacArms - Sgt, laser designators
6 Steel Troopers - Sgt lasergun, medic, mechanic and tri-lens
4 Death Dealer TacArms - Lt Epstone, laser designators
Defender Cobra - Sgt
2nd Platoon
9 Steel Troopers - Sgt, 2x missile, medic and mechanic
3 Steel TacArms - Sgt, laser designators
6 Shock Troopers - Sgt, flamer
3 Fire Toads - Cpt Newton
Defender Snake - Sgt
3rd Platoon
9 Steel Troopers - Sgt, 2x lasergun, medic, mechanic and tri-lens
3 JAM TacArms - Sgt, laser designators
6 Steel Troopers - Sgt, missile, medic and mechanic
3 Iron Rain - Sgt
Copperhead - Col Stark
4th Platoon
9 Steel Troopers - Sgt, 2x lasergun, medic, mechanic and tri-lens
3 Shock TacArms - Sgt, laser designators
3 Med Tech
Camel Transport - Sgt
Fire Crawler - Lt
5th Platoon
6 Shock Troopers - Sgt, flamer
Defender Cobra M8 - Sgt
Note how apart from the incomplete 5th platoon there is a commissioned officer in every platoon.
I also make M.Ind and Centcom lists for U.N.A. I can make any list except Union, I have no Star Troopers.
P.S. By the way, as I just checked O.N.I. has now been uploaded (I have been waiting for this). I can now start making my first provisional lists to work out a purchase plan.

Just wondering if you have 5 platoons why only take 3 Civil Engineers?
You can have up to 3 per platoon and they can then go into any infantry unit. With your TacArms you place them at the front and the first hit will be taken by the Civil engineer.

I normally go there to buy, civil engineers have come down in price a lot. Now $12 for three before it was $16.50.
In any event its all the polar clothing crap I wouldn't want, it doesn't fit the majority of the armies out there. Even the Frostbite units are little more than alt paintjobs, none of the soldiers depicted appear to be in winter clothing. Especially the med teams which are where you want them most. Short skirt and open cleavage doesn't go with thick winter gear.

I have a bunch of UNA Star Troopers with the guns removed and painted orange that I use for Civil Engineers when I need more than three. If it is for my UNA army then I have a couple of Red Blok Soldatie again painted orange to use.
I have never had an opponent confused about the models.

I just toss the civil engineers and the MedTech in for the hell of it. Honestly, civil engineers bother me. They're free, and they give you 50 RP per turn. It's so easy to abuse that in a larger list. If I had one civvie for each infantry unit in my army I'd have 17 of them. Let's say half my infantry is Assault and I have 8 of those civil engineers...that's 400 RP plus whatever I actually take from the table that turn.
It's kind of ridiculous.

It works fine in games of up to 3000ap for larger games we limit civil engineers to 2 per 1000ap (and then still have a maximum of 3 per platoon, just in case you make a list with 1 platoon worth 4000ap).
It would have been better if I had said that before.

in our games we do not permit civil engineers.
i would like to see them as capturable objectives. I would like to see a repair tech team (med tech for vehicles) but dont like the rules for them in open play for pretty much the same reasons as explained in above posts.
I also limit Med Techs to one per army, and no longer permit them for Therians at all, thats what routines are for. But conversely we allow them to have the same morale rules as support teams rather than infantry squads.

Actually with exception of one 2k game for the benefit of a player with a Cog army box the smallest games we play outside of getting to learn the rules is 4000AP. 6k was standard until I had built my armies to 8k, and I host the game around here, the Cogs are the only other army owned by someone else in my gaming group. Noone who plays wants to play with less than 4k despite that fact that when hosting games the guests always choose the points limit.

Wow I wish lol. Largest game so far around here has been 3,000. Trying to push for bigger games but the only way we can get stuff is by order from the states. Most of the players I know have maybe max 4k. Sad when I have over 7k AP of 3 different armies...if your going to get in, go full bore . As far as I know not a single retailer within 700miles actually stocks AT-43 product atm (i've called lol) as Rackham is, as usual, somewhere out to lunch and doesn't seem to really care and the price just gets to expensive to grab stock from the states. Thnx for your wonderful distrubution Rackham....
Ahh well, the sacrifices one must make for the game.

Im not sure about your question about UNA, and besides I dont like to do mathammer so what i will write is just my opinion, perception AND experience playing against them
UNA is in my opinion the "standard" army, is the army which was taken as basis for all the other armies, i will explain more in detail:
UNA armor in infantry is just above the worse (Red BLok) but not close to the "elite" type of armies (therians and Karmans)
UNA infantry has a fairly good accury all arround, not as good as Cogs but better than Red Blok
Una Tac Arms, have not as good armor as red BLok but have better accuracy, are immune to grounding but are not as resistant
UNA AFv´s are fast (not as much as therians) have better accuracy (better than Red Blok but not as good as cogs) are "cheap" and have numbers and good weapons...
UNA is in my opinion a very balanced army that can be used for any situations...

UNA are very effective with multiple build options. Therians and Karmans can be effective but you have to choose your units and sub-fqaction carefully. Unless you play on a deliberately undersized surface Red Blok dont have too much of a say in.
With UNA you can make nasty builds with several sub-factions and they are reasonably varied and balanced, this allows you to tailor your armies around larger collections.
Some pointers:
1. Defender Cobra are superior to Defender Snakes, worth more and costing less. Ther ability to true indirect fire with them via tac arms should never be underestimated. Only *** infantry are safe from them. To get Cobras you need to buy the Coppoerhead boxset, you dont have to think of this as buying too many generals and not enough army, stark you only need once, the vehicle itself is good to go several times.
2. Tac Arms should always be given laser designators unless you have no locked shot or Cobras in your army.
3. Damocles Initiation boxsets are the key. dont buy one for the intro, buy several for the models rthey contain. A minimum of two of them is the best way to start your army and I would double up to four to really get somewhere with them. - I myself have six. Buy them in pairs so the infantry and vehicles match up. You need even numbers of Damocles boxsets to even up the infantry as the soldiers are in two half squads. For all that you get two Fire Toads and two Steeel Troopers one with tri lens. Doubling up doubles up your UNA and at the same time gives you a core selection of stock terrain features and a Therian army on the side.
4. Wing Troopers don't work well, however Wing Sniper teams work very well. You can convert them up from Steel troopers with lasguns.
5. Shock Troopers and Shock Tac Arms can be suprisingly effective, especially if you buy them a Camel transport (use a Valkyrie or Cheyenne dropship model the Camel is not out yet).
6. Fire Toads are the basis for vehicles in your army, many list options demand * vehicles. Camels and Fire Toads are your only options. Camels you can sub (see above) Fire Toads require a lot of luck or as recommended Damocles initiation boxsets.
7. Paint up regular infantry as medics and mechanics. Sub your Steel troopers as Star Troopers as needed. Most players accept this as Star Troopers out of snow camo and Steel trooper unit accessories are practically non existant.
8. If you want laser guns for your infantry buy a set of Steel Tac Arms and cut the guns off and reposition them 'hanging' from the riflemans arms. The guns are the same and the pose is similar. You can get away with minimum purcasing buy buying a 'limited edition' open suit, using it as the sergerant in a squad and sacrificing the old sergeant to get guns for a Steel Trooper squad.
9. This also helps because you should have two Steel Tac Arm units anyway, they are very potent and versatile. One with open suit one normal distinguishes the squads naturally and automatically.
10. Death Dealer Tac Arms are 'available' but Rackham logistics sucks and Miniatures Market have long been out of stock. Get them if you can, with Epstone. Death Dealers fill a hole in the UNA list, massed anti infantry firepower. There are ferew other options for this. Infantry of course work, but not with any good accuracy and you will need a split fire leadership point, most heavy weapons are lock shot or single shot. really it only leaves the Cobra, which has enough work cut out for it, and Iron Rain, which you will need to convert.
11. You can do away with Shock Tac Arms, UNA need not close but they are good. Jam TacArms are also good, UNA have no duff option for their *** infantry but are not necessary. UNA are not short of effective anti tank and do not need what the Jam TacArm offers. The only really advantage of the unit are the jammers to take on the Dotch Yaga, but lasers are as good because accuracy bonuses offset damage capability and bercause you will need a lot more thnas threre Jammers to kill a Yaga anyway. Better to just rely on the lasers, which have no shortage of users afterwards.

Unfortunately Op Damocles sets really aren't cost-effective anymore. Better to choose one army or the other and purchase $10.00 Steel Trooper Unit Boxes at this point. Fire Toads are still around if you look hard enough, so you wind up coming out money ahead avoiding Op Damocles at this point.

True, Miniatures Market has upped the price to $60. I got five boxes from the Miniatures Market firesale price in various installments, the sixth was cancelled from an order because they ran out, and when restocked had raised the price to current standard. I was lucky to find it on ebay at $25 from someone who didnt know that price had returned upwards.
My advice here earlier in the year to buy massed Damocles was nonetheless sound and I still stick by it, especially as I included a caveat to hurry. You ca still get lucky though, and it is something to watch out for.

Ugh, been a long holiday season, but I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and can get back to my "real job", painting miniatures So for those of you looking for long lost UNA units, Rackham does have a UNA army box slated for 2010, which I suspect will have at least a Fire Toad and Steel Troopers in it. The army box is confirmed, whats in it is just speculation on my part, but they did state the army box would restock some out of production units. Anyway, better late than never, here's my 10k UNA army list:
24th Armored Inf Regt, 1st Bn
MInd list that has 2 medium Cobra platoons, and one light Fire Toad scout platoon.
Platoon 1
- Copperhead (+ Colonel G. Stark)
- Defender Cobra (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Lieutenant, 2 Volcano MG)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Master Sergeant, 2 Volcano MG)
Platoon 2
- Defender Cobra (Sergeant)
- Defender Cobra M8 (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 2 Steel Missile Team
- 2 Steel Missile Team
Platoon 3
- Defender Cobra (+ Lieutenant F. Fortuna)
- Defender Cobra (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Lieutenant, 2 Volcano MG)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Master Sergeant, 2 Laser Gun)
Platoon 4
- Defender Cobra (Sergeant)
- Defender Cobra M8 (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 2 Steel Missile Team
- 2 Steel Missile Team
Platoon 5
- 2 Fire Toad (+ Captain H. Newton)
- 3 Fire Toad (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Master Sergeant, 2 Laser Gun)
- 10 Steel Troopers (Master Sergeant, 2 Laser Gun)
Platoon 6
- 3 Fire Toad (Sergeant)
- 2 Lancelot (Sergeant)
- 3 Steel TacArms (Sergeant)
Here's a group shot of one of the Cobra platoons:

It looks a waste that you have no Fire Crawler in an army of that size, and only use one type of TacArm.
It looks a little minimaxed to me, which is fine for 2-3k but off for so large a force.

It's designed to be 3 roughly 3k to 3.5k platoons, which are much more likely to see play than a 10k armada, and I tried to design a "realistic" full strength company. So yes, there is deliberate repetition of unit types, as there are in any real army, and I concentrated around Steel Troopers & Steel TacArms as the basic infantry units, that help support 3 full strength strider platoons. It actually works out to 86 inf and 19 striders, making a pretty well balanced 105 man full strength company. It's a little low on manpower count, but being a MInd list, it emphasizes striders. I also own a pair of Fire Crawlers that I'm trying to work into a 3k - 3.5k heavy vehicle platoon, which I could swap out with the scout platoon. And I have a 3k drop platoon of jetpacked shock troops, wing troopers, and Shock TacArms with jetpacks.

Combined arms at platoon level is a logistical nightmare, but it could still e realistic. However as platoon org means absolutely nothing on ther tabletop, only for army generation you might want to make up youjr list, unembellished to show it is legal and then completely restructure it for the fluff. Taking your army above as an example:
H.Q./A Company 13th Striker Armored Regiment
Medium Walker H.Q. Platoon:
3x Defender Cobra
1x Defender Cobra M8
C/O Colonel Stark
Medium Walker 2nd Platoon:
3x Defender Cobra
1x Defender Cobra M8
AC/O Lt Fortuna
Scout Walker 3rd Platoon:
4x 3 Fire Toads
1x 2 Lancelot
C/O Cpt Newton
Assigned:
elements D Company 246th Regiment 'Tigerbite'
B Platoon
3x Steel Trooper squads (10 man)
1x Missile support section (2 man)
C/O Lt Cartwright
C Platoon
3x Steel Trooper squads (10 man)
1x Missile support section (2 man)
C/O Lt Ramirez
Assigned:
elements 801st Heavy Tactical 'The Punishers'
A Platoon
3x Steel TacArm fireteams
AC/O Sgt Cheung
D Platoon
3x Steel TacArm fireteams
AC/O Sgt Winthorpe

Nice breakdown! That's pretty much exactly how I envisioned it. A full strength 3 platoon strider company with 2 platoons of inf attached. The only thing I would do differently is that I considered the Tac Arms to be the heavy weapon squad for each inf platoon, so my inf platoons actually look:
Command squad:
10 man steel trooper squad with LasGuns, Lt (rifle squad with officer)
Line Inf Squads
10 man steel trooper squad with Volcano Guns, MSgt (rifle squad)
10 man steel trooper squad with Volcano Guns, MSgt (rifle squad)
Heavy Weapons:
9 man Steel TacArm squad, broken into 3 sections of 3 men each (Basically the equivalent of a heavy machine gun section, or an uparmored/upgunned rifle squad)
4 man Anti-strider section, 2 teams of 2 rocket launchers each (the equivalent of a mortar section or anti-tank team)
Makes a 43 man full strength inf platoon
And in a 10k game, it would be 3 strider platoons and 2 inf platoons, which would lend itself to team play of 3-5 people manning all the forces.
