What are people's thoughts on sisters of battle in Valkyries.

SOBs are considerable more resilient scoring units than IG, and a flyers with EZ bake flamer squads would be awesome.

Anybody tried a tactic like this?

Also thinking you could buy vets with metlas and chimeras, and chose who to put in which transport depending on the opponent.

Seems like it could add some serious in your face firepower. Especially with scouting.

That sounds pretty gnarly. Sisters can move and shoot multimeltas and Heavy flamers can't they? If so it makes it really gnarly.

No they can't.

Dropping 12 ladies in power armour will more then make up for that. They also can take flamers and heavy flamers. I say go for it.

Could they do this in older editions, or did my friend who popped in out of town pull this out of his ass

Seems pretty spendy to get a few extra flamers in there. Would this really be better than a vet squad with 3x flamers, a PCS with 4x flamers, or a special weapon squad with 3x flamers?

Do you really need to deploy 24" away all the time? Chimeras at least allow the troops to be reasonably protected and still fire with the fire points, and rhinos are alot cheaper for sisters.

It seems interesting but maybe a tad pricey and situational.

Awww was thinking someone made Imperial Guard shaped cookies or something cute like that. Guess not. :(

Sisters in Valkyries seems to be not worth the points. Sisters rely on faith and seems that one would not have much faith with just a few allies.

10 Sisters with Veteran Superior with book of st lucius, flamer and heavy flamer is about 150 points.

The advantage here is power armor, stubborn leadership 9 and acts of faith like rending shooting and 3+ invulnerable which require faith to use which in a mostly imperial guard list is in short supply.

However one can get more flamers within the Imperial Guard's own units.

A Platoon command squad with 4 flamers is 50 points.

Special Weapons squad with 3 Flamers is also 50 points with 2 Flamers and a Demolition Charge is 65 points.

Veteran Squad with 2 Flamers and a Heavy flamer is 100 points.

Sisters are more resilent with power armor and stuborn leadership 9 but Sisters still are bad in assault despite power armor and with only a few allies you don't have the faith to give them invulnerable saves to stick around.

Probably better to stick with Guard who can give you more templates. If you close enough to use a flamer you close enough to get assaulted and Sisters squads don't hold up well in assault without faith.

Now Grey Knights are something else to consider. They can actually fight and bring nice options like Psycannons to kill fateweaver/daemons or Eldar Seer councils on foot but are very expensive.

Right but for 10 points more you put the Brazer on the Vet SOB so for 160 points you get 2 flamers, 1 hvy flamers, and 7 bolters that rend, have power armor and offer an unmodifiable leadership 9 bubble.

Just to look at the math (assume 5 guys per template), the SOB squad suggested preforms equally to the squads that cost about 1/3 the price if you are hunting orks, but the same SOB squad kills on average 7 MEQs, which is something no infantry squad in the IG list can even touch.

Now to be fair 3 flamer command squads would kill roughly the same amount of MEQs, but when you factor in additional costs for transports we are no longer comparing apples to apples.

The closest thing you have to that much kill power is a vet squad with 3 plasma guns and a demo charge. Which is 145 points and is inferior in a ton of ways to SOBs.

Point for point I think they are and equal buy in an IG list but they get better the more you take.

Deep-striking (via outflanked & flat-out moved Valkyrie/vendetta) = SoB win due to the 3+ armour save. You will often scatter & will often take dangerous terrain tests.. also having LD9 is a bonus. . .

But why do you need to deep-strike them? Both the Valkyrie & Vendetta may benefit moving 12"/6" and firing everything & letting the troops disembark normally. The veterans/Infantry platoon stuff would do just fine.
