Alas, my dream of 2 venom cannon shots per round are shattered!
Page 30 of Tyranid codex.
A tyranid that carries 2 of the same ranged weapon symbiote counts them as twin-linked.
Can't argue with that!

Well, it would still fire twice on a Carnifex, it's Assault X, where X is the model's base attack.

Yeah, I'm still re-learning the rules. I assumed venom cannons were blast weapons. It is a CANNON after all!

That property would quite blatantly be under its description. Lascannons are cannons, but they, unfortunately, do not have a blast attribute.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular." |

I'm no historian, but I didn't think cannons like that exploded when they hit the target either. Isn't it just a big lump of metal?

There actually were a number of projectiles developed for use in Cannons which incorporated blasts, some packed the projectile with highly explosive powder to create an explosion, while others used a smaller amount of explosive powder and smaller iron balls within the round, to create a fragmentation effect.

Depends if it is solid shot or canister shot Automatically Appended Next Post: Alas, in 3rd edition, 2 venom cannons were 2 separate guns. However, when the 4th edition codex came out, they mades it so that if you took two of the same weapon, it made them twin linked.

Ah I'm sorry, I think I must have been misleading. I was referring to the type of cannon in the picture. I was assuming it was a 10 lb(ish) gun from a civil war re-enactment (not sure, going by the uniforms I think) and I thought they limited the explosive shot to higher calibre weapons.
The more you know!

In general, certain cannons were better at firing canister. However, if the enemy got close enough, any and every cannon would end up firing canister shot or whatever they could cram into the barrel (including crushed glass) that would reak havok up close. Better to risk blowing the barrel than getting overrun.

They should've clearly taken the Heavy Flamer as a precaution...
