My god. I put some things in a pile about *checks watch* 10 hours ago, with the intention of making some terrain today. But I just keep walking past the mass of junk pretending its not there. What the hell do you folks do to get your rear in gear? HELP ME!

Tournaments are a great motivator to get stuff done and painted for me, nothing like a deadline to get things done, even if they end up being rushed thanks to too much procrastination not enough effective time management.

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

From England. Living in Shanghai

Well for me when I make terrain the wife helps me move along quickly

"Do something with that crap or I'm throwing it out"

Works for me.

On a more serious note, I have never found terrain making boring. It takes away from the tedium of painting all the models.

You could try and find ways of spicing it up a bit though. Adding lots of little details that make you want to start the project. That's how I'm handling my tyrant...add a tau warrior lying broken at it's feet with a ripper bursting out of his body. Makes me want to start working on it.

Go outside cut power to your house and then come back inside and put stuff together. By the time the electric company gets ther and fixes it you should have about five hours or so to put stuff together.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

I have a similar problem which extends to the Masters Degree I'm doing at the moment (it's midnight and I'm still struggling with a 2500 word essay due in Tuesday - on the plus side I've passed the word count). In this instance I remind myself this is costing me £5000 and to not get a good mark would be a rather spectacular waste of money.

Given GWs pricing, I believe this approach can be applied to the hobby too.

That made me laugh something fierce. The problem is, not only would my wife want to murder me (And dakka would be Cracker-less) but its somewhat chilly outside, and I like the use of power tools when I make things. (see the pumpkin carving thread I made )
Ho hum.... I need to just do this! LETS GET IT OOOON!!!.............after I uh procrastinate alittle more lol

Do you like Adam Carolla? Whenever I want to paint or model or do anything that normally takes forever and requires the use of my eyes, I just listen to my backlog of podcasts I have downloaded.

http://www.adamcarolla.com/ACPBlog/

Find a podcast and listen to it. It's kinda hard to watch a movie or read while painting since you need your eyes and hands, but your ears are free. The only downside is laughing and screwing up the paint a bit.

"I drive a big car, cuz I'm a big star. I'll make a big rock-and-roll hit." "I am a big car, and I'm a strip bar. Some call it fake, I call it good-as-it-gets."

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Same thing here. My work desk is also my computer desk, so I just set this season of 'Its always sunny in Philadelphia' to play on hulu and went to work.

Cranked out a squad of nobz and lootaz today doing that with the added bonus of greenman.

It could be worse, you could be on fire.

Do you know what you're going to make? I know terrain, but like, buildings, big rocks, volcanos, trees, etc?

Find someone to bug you until you finish it.

"I haven't started yet..."

I find this a more accurate representation of how the situation would occur...

"Hey hows the terrain going?"
"I haven't started yet..."
"Hey hows the terrain going?"
"I haven't started yet..."
"Hey hows the terrain going?"
