I am thinking about making a mechanicum army but I don't know what models I should use and how to convert them. Maybe I should start by reading the mechanicum books.

Well there were some Mechanicum models made eons ago but they're very rare and valueble.
For an army you could use an Armoured IG Company, using models converted to the styles of the Techpriests. Reading Mechanicum may give you some ideas but the novel dosent really focus on the Techpriests as much as you would think.

Thanks for the advice!!! I think that I'll use the Imperial guard stats so the Cadian troops would be Servitor models, or use the Space marine stats so I can use techmarines.
