Just to spice things up for a rather maligned HQ choice, how would the +1 Reserves bonus that the Autarch provides be +1/-1 at the Eldar player's choice affect the pricing of the Autarch? This way you could hold certain units in reserves longer until they are needed and increase the likelihood that they will deploy the round you need them.
I love Autarchs, but compared to Farseers they simply lack the dynamic punch that Eldar HQ's should add to the army. Even rolling one Autarch with one Farseer can cramp the style of an army.

I'd love this ability, though i run a Autarch with 3 units of hawks so I'm the rare exception to it being worse then a farseer lol

I love it, how many other units can get a 12" jetbike move and 6 S6 power weapon attacks on the charge at WS6 I6, a 3+/4++ save, T3(4), and 3 wounds for 130 pt. I rearly need the +1 to reserves, unless i have walkers waiting to outflank.

How much do you think this would increase the cost of the now 70pt Autarch?
I'd use it to keep my jetbikers off table for as long as possible, shooting for a round 4-5 sweep of objectives.

lol can't give yourself a -1 to reserves, the jetbike autarch set is much more expensive compared to the base model.

Dagger, that's why this is in Proposed Rules. I'm proposing to allow the Autarch's Master Strategist allow you to SUBTRACT one from your reserves roll so you can keep certain units off the table until you decide to apply it as a bonus to pull them on easier.
This would affect the base cost of the Autarch since wargear like the jetbike is in addition to his normal abilities and statistics. How much do you think a -1 to Reserves would raise the cost of the Autarch?

honestly i don't see it as a price increase. I wouldn't find a price increase for this ability necessary. Since the autarch isn't taken much as is and is slightly over costed for what he does.

I'm inclined to agree. For the point value of the base autarch, you don't get much. That +1 to the reserves roll is handy when you need it, but I find that keeping a unit off the table is just as important. Maybe I'll post this in the Eldar Codex wishlist.
