Ok. I have this great idea for an army that would be a product of an army that exists. However, the changes in the army would require a totally new codex to really be substantial. I was wondering if this was extremely faux pa or if it would be encouraged. Of course I would not try to play my codex in tournament or something ridiculous. It would be more of a gamer club thing. Also, I would make sure to make it fair and not a God mode cheat. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It's not a faux pas of any sort but you're rarely if ever going to be able to just play a pick up game with it because your oppenent is going to want to read it through first before giving the okay.

Yeah I understand that. The way it will be done it can still be played as its standard army for tourney or whatever. I have six people that I play with regularly and they are all willing to play it.

Then you're good. Games-Workshop deems its products to be a sort of "beer-and-pretzels" kind of hobby. Don't take it too seriously. If your friends are cool, then playtest that sucker and post it here!
