So here's some examples of weathering I've done using Mig Pigments. I've only got 3 colors right now, so the mud is rather monotone. I use standard rust dry mud and black smoke.

For rust I apply it dry, kinda grinding it onto the model, then use 91% alcohol to fix it in place. For mud I make a pigment/ alcohol mix so that it can be applied in clumps to simulate chunks of mud drying to the piece.

I prefer SM equipment being clean of rust
Mud yes, rust no
Just a preference

Looks authentic though, so cudos on that count

I like the rust a lot! it looks great. the mud needs some more toning in it though. but for a limited pallete it is amzing what you've done, especially the rust.
