Subject: The Sheer Brilliance of The Ricky Gervais Podcasts.
They are simply the greatest thing to happen to comedy for years IMO. Are you a believer? If you haven't heard them, check this out:
It's not scripted, Karl isn't an actor - it's just three mates having a chat, which regularly leads to comedy gold. It's the sort of conversation that can be found in pubs and bars around the world - I guess that's why it's so popular.

Ricky doesn't even rate in the funniness stakes.
I have a genuine dislike of anything the Gervais has had total control over (The Office, Extras, etc...) but some of the stuff he has collaborated on has been fantastically funny. These webcasts are a great example of silly, bare bones comedy.

Fair Do's. I guess what i meant was that i find Gervais to be more than a little nauseating when the show is ostensibly just about him. In extras, Merchant didn't do much other than be a dartboard.
That said. Flanimals was ace

I don't like everything he does, but The Office and the Podcasts are genius.
Not The Office or Extras.
(The office was too much like real life for me). I worked in a corporate office with an English manager who seemed to have used David Brent as his template. Not funny. He was a useless git, too (the boss). We had another brit manager (he was a northerner) but an ok guy otherwise.
I find many things and people funny.
I find Robin Williams funny.
I find Billy Connolly funny.
I find Jeff Dunham quite amusing.
I found George Carlin to be incredibly pants-wettingly funny.
I find Bill Bailey funny.
I found Dave Allen to be incredibly funny as a kid and still do.
Ricky Gervais just gives me the irrits.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

@Chromedog - Fair enough, mate - wasn't trying to imply you don't have a sense of humour! I suppose that doesn't come over too well on the internets.
@Cane - Yeah, they don't immediately strike you as being ROFLMAO funny at first, but they are strangely addictive.
For me, the star is Karl Pilkington.
