Apologies if this is a stupid question, but what war gear does an IG standard bearer have?
The picture on the company command squad box has him with a ccw. I kind of assumed he was classed as having a laspistol and ccw but can't see anything in my codex confirming or denying it.

He has a ccw and either a laspistol or a lasgun.

I think he retains the usual equipment for a guardsman/veteran in a command squad (Lasgun, CCW etc).
It doesn't say the standard replaces anything, just says he is upgraded to carry it. It's the same with voxes, and they almost always seem to have a lasgun.
Does make me wonder how he fires a lasgun while holding that massive banner though...

Thanks MasterSlowPoke & Uno
appreciate the response
I'm not sure how he could fire a lasgun with one hand, so thats why I assumed he had a laspistol, and like I siaid on the box he has a sword.

Edited for factual commentary.
Or to paraphrase a quote from a good movie. "When the time comes for me to use one of those, there will be plenty on the ground."

I've got a metal standard bearer that came with the old cadian CCS (with the little hitler and the casualty). He's got pistol/CCW. I'm pretty sure that the new plastic box lets you put the standard with whatever you want. That new box is loaded with bits, and has all the specials - it's pretty awesome. On the box, I'm pretty sure they have the standard bearer set up with the cybernetic sword arm.
As far as firing a weapon, he's the Regimental Standard Bearer. He's a veteran, and he just gets it done.

Well, a laser weapon would have no recoil, so he probably just sprays n' prays one-handed.

Not necessarily true. Proposed laser rifle prototypes floating around at the moment actually have quite a bit of recoil, as they use super-accelerated gas as a part of the process of generating the laser beam.

I believe in the fluff, books, and whatnot Lasguns have a recoil... probably because its more grimdark and awesome to have them. As for the loadout, the guy does not have a laspistol. He is just a regular guy, with a standard. The box with the command squad in it actually has an arm with a lasgun that has a strap... so the guardsman can have a standard in one arm, and a single handed lasgun in the other. You can give anyone in the squad a laspistol in exchange for their lasgun, but that has nothing to do with the standard. It is listed in the wargear list, right next to all the other options for your CCS or PCS, next to the regimental standard.

And his rank didn't even change... For shame. Automatically Appended Next Post: In order to make this on topic, he carries whatever he would normally carry in the squad. Standards/Voxes/Medi-Packs are upgrades that are carried in addition to whatever the model normally has.

I like the ambiguity of standard bearers actually. If I want a shooting squad he has a lasgun, close combat he has a close combat weapon. WYSIWYG that!

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake. |

WHere did you hear/see this? My company makes laser weapons. Maybe we bid on this and I was not even aware.
