So i was wondering can salamanders enter a building? I thought they might be able too because it does not say they are monsters, they can't be cavalry (more than one wound) so does that mean they are infantry for entering the buildings purpose?

In the Webway.

Any animals, or similar, that have more than 1 wound are considered as monsters. I'm not too clear on the building rules, but if it says monsters aren't allowed to enter a building, i'd say the salamander isn't either, since its more than 1 wound therfore a monster.

wow, i should have read their rules closer, they are not counted as monsters per lizardmen book, they cannot be cavalry, nor warmachines, so i think that means they are infantry.

I don't think they count as infantry, the only thing that can enter buildings. I think they're monsters, but not for the reason Eldar Own said (Ogres and Trolls for instance aren't considered Monsters, at least in my store). The reason they'd be monsters is that they take Monster Reaction checks when all their skinks die. Unless a rule specifically states they don't count as monsters, something that takes a Monster Reaction check is - quite obviously - a Monster.

Sorry that is what i meant by they are not monsters. On page 56 of the Lizardmen book

"Although the salamanders are not classified as monsters, if all of the skink handlers are slain the remaining salamanders must take a leadership test, and if this is failed, roll on the monster reaction table."

Its GW at their finest, a monster that is not a monster. But to be fair if they were monsters then you could do mean things like putting handlers in the way of units so they cannot charge, they could break ranks with 2 or more of them etc.

Oh and the reason before why i was wondering before i caught that in my book was that you cannot have units of monsters according to the BRB, so i figured that meant that since you can take 1-3 salamanders they cannot be monsters (like trolls etc). It was a matter of which rule trumped the other, or basically can non-monsters take monster reaction tests.

They are not monsters, and so fall back into infantry - ogre class

As such they can enter buildings.

.

Not classified as monster but need to roll on the monster reaction table, so it count as half monster.

"Half" a monster?

I agree with the above... it specifically says that it is not a monster, so it could enter the building.
