So I made this list after testing all sorts of Space Wolf set up's and feel this is the biggest leap forward in my quest for a "balanced core list"
8 Grey Hunters - 443
Wolf Lord - Power Fist, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear
Wolf Guard - Power Fist, Combi-Melta
Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen
Rhino, Dozer Blades
8 Grey Hunters - 373
Rune Priest - Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf, Master of Runes
Wolf Guard - Power Fist, Combi-Melta
Plasma Gun, Mark of the Wulfen
Rhino
9 Grey Hunters - 228
Wolf Guard - Power Fist, Combi-Flamer
Flamer, Mark of the Wulfen
Rhino
10 Grey Hunters - 205
2x Meltagun, Mark of the Wulfen
Rhino
7 Wolf Scouts - 158
Wolf Guard - Power Fist, Combi-Melta
Meltagun
Dreadnought - 115
Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer, DCCW
5x Long Fangs - 203
5x Missile Launchers
Wolf Guard - Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Pack Leader - Bolt Pistol, CCW, Split-Fire
5x Long Fangs - 158
5x Missile Launchers
Wolf Guard - Bolt Pistol, CCW
Pack Leader - Bolt Pistol, CCW, Split-Fire
Vindicator - 115
So you end up with 2 HQ, 4 Troops, 3 Elites, 3 Heavy. The fire support of 12 Missile shots with 7 and 5 having split fire, and the extra wounds in those squads is extremely helpful and efficient. The Wolf Lord and his unit will assault the beefiest thing they can and he will survive to get all those Power Fist attacks with his 3 wounds, 2/3+ saves, and EW. The Rune Priest has the obvious set up, LL being able to kill infantry and a lot of transports pretty well and jaws is jaws. The scouts fit in quite well and force the opponent to either keep something back to deal with them, or let them wreak havoc behind their lines.
Seems balance, but I'm no fool. Critique away, tell me what you're seen in your games and how you feel this list would do in general. Feedback welcome!!!
Thanks
