Doesn't have to be modeling. The ones on litko are five dollars a piece but I'm hoping
there's something else out there. Any suggestions?

Considered that.

Considered wetting paper and putting it on brass rod.

Considered learning the green stuff way.

In the future, I will try these methods even though modeling is my least favorite thing
about the hobby (I enjoy painting a lot).

However, I'm wondering what all is out there.

No idea. The ease of using the stove method is why I chose it. For a few bucks, I can make hundreds of flags out of thin plasticard. To add flavor to them, just use a bit of greenstuff to make tears or tatters (if you didn't ahead of time or to add more detail).

Good luck on your quest.

I will second the stove idea. Its so simple and fast, I wouldn't even bother looking for premade flags, as they will be inherently more fragile and less customizeable.
