Too small to serve any purpose in my 40k army, but it is quite, quite lovely. Also notable is the Vickers Independent coming up soon.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Very cool Is that all plastic, or resin? And just ot be certain, that is 25mm scale, 1/56th right?

And yes the forthcoming Independent looks even more frothworthy!

I also found their existing MkII:

Lovely stuff. I am pretty certain these are resin of some sort. I am not aware of Copplestone working in plastic.

In case anyone's interested, I did some measurements. The Independent ought to be about 13 cm long, which is about the same length as a Leman Russ, but it's only about half as wide. The Medium Mark III, should be about 11.5 centimeters long by 4.75 centimeters wide. About the length of a Chimera hull but again, only slightly more than half its width.

These measurements are scaled down from technical data posted on Wikipedia, which ought to produce numbers about in the right ballpark (a practice I recommend when curious what the footprint of a given scale model is).

I like the Independent, but would prefer a Vickers Medium Mk1. I think someone manufactures one somewhere, if you know I'd like to know. Both are in Bovington. The only other Independent kit is a recent 1/35th release from Accurate Armour which is very expensive.

There used to be a 1/35 scale kit of the Russian T-35, which is very similar to the Vickers, but it seems to be OOP.

Will be getting my AVBCW models back off my mate I think. Need to add some more troops to bulk out my force

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Is there a thread somewhere that shows off some real-life-tanks next to gw models... My search-fu hasn't come up with anything.

If/when I start an IG army, I will surely beef it out with real-life-tanks rather than the gw ones.

Lovely little thing. Maybe replace the tracks with something more clunky, put on some stubber barrels, maybe the odd skull or purity seal, an excellent local militia tank we have there.

I assume you mean models of real life tanks next to GW models.

Look in my gallery. I have some size comparison pictures there. I haven't done a strong real vs GW comparison as I don't have many GW tanks.

The "land battleship" phase of tank design was more of an inter-war thing. Lots of folks experimented with multi-turret tanks in the 20's and 30's, but none of them really worked in practice.

The Russian T-35 is one of the most famous examples of the "land battleship" concept. It actually saw action in WWII

You can get a 1:72 scale kit of it (http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/icm/kit_icm_35041.shtml), but I haven't seen on in 1:55 scale or similar... yet. I'm keeping my eyes peeled!

The Vickers Invincible only made it to single prototype status, sadly.

I have ICM's 1/35 kit, but I want to get some metal barrels for it before I start.

This was about 6 years ago, before my GW habit sidelined all my WWII modeling. I mostly did 1/48 aircraft, but also did the occasional armor.

I can't remember if I got it from Squadron or Great Models

http://www.squadron.com/

http://www.greatmodels.com/

I see they don't list the kit anymore, but they still have detail sets. GM does have a 1/48 kit, but it's almost $100. It's a resin kit.

Back when I played Squad Leader (before ASL), I always bought a T-35, despite the absurd point cost. The only kill it ever made was one PzKw Ib.

I think the kit has been OOP for several years, sadly.

Perhaps Zvezda or one of the eastern European companies will bring it back.

Yeah, Zvezda does like the out of mainstream subjects, which is nice.

The ICM kit is pretty involved. Lots of sprues. A display with this and a T-28 would look rather neat.

A couple reviews..
