So, i've been reading a lot about getting a squad of GK termies as allies on IG armies, that was my intention even before the new codex, however, the changes on some characters have brought me to a huge decision, i need to fill 250 points to complete my IG/ DH list, and the obvious option seemed a Leman Russ, however i was told why not a land raider?, that would help the termies to get into CC faster, I'm planning on attaching Yarrick to them, pretty expensive, yeah but sounds like fun. So my question is will this work? i'm also getting straken, so they should get I5 S7 on charge and rerolls due to yarrick on the charge.
This takes me to my next question, i got 6 termies, so they won't fit on the normal LR, i need a crusader, but i'm not sure if i can take it for allied armies since it is under heavy support, but it is still a transport for my termies

You can put 6 GK termies in a guard chimera last time I checked.
They can even shoot their psycannons out the hatch.

I'm fairly certain that the only means of getting a Land Raider into IG through DH is to ally an Inquisitor Lord and take it as a dedicated transport. Pretty sure there are no available heavy support options for allied DH. If you want Termies in a transport, then have your IG take another chimera and first round have the termies steal their hooptie.

the ONLY way you can take a land raider and grey knights is this:
Take an inquisitor lord as HQ... take him with 2 mystics and a bodyguard. give them a land raider as a dedicated transport.
Take the terminators as elites.
Take a chimera / valkrie in your list somewhere that won't be used for anything, so the inquisitor can chill in it.
boom, done. just remember the first turn the terminators cannot start in the raider, and the inquisitor can't start in the other transport. you can move them in after first turn though.

Actually, it's worse than that. Page 30 of C: DH reads that "Transports are always taken as an upgrade... may only transport the unit it was bought for." Nevermind you that GW had the forsight to change that in the FAQ just like they did for WH and EVERYONE ELSE, but oh well. Anyway, since transports bought from other 'dex don't have this silly limitation, you can do whatever with them. Chimera seats twelve and nowhere does it say it can't seat termies, so go that way. Personally, I'd be fine with it if someone used it that way with me, but I'm not TFG; just lucky enough to run into him every time.

(edited--too slow)
That's why I said get em a guard chimera. It's a lot cheaper and doesn't have the restrictions of the inquisitorial transports.
(further edit)
But GKTs also can just stand at the back of the army and plink away with psycannons. Shrouding protects them from most long-range firepower and you can move to shoot, then when you need the countercharge, they're there.

Or you could deep strike them. Seriously, you don't know depression until second turn you've just teleported a quarter of your IG army too close to a Striking Scorpion squad and watched as they wave their hands in the shimmering glow as your termies explode into a million little pieces.
Well, maybe not that cool, but oh to be new at this game again..
