I was recently painting my Imperial guardsmen when I realized that they were all the same light skin tone. I decided I wanted to mix things up and tried painting a model with darker skin (a darker brown color) and the results were not what I wanted. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out? Thanks

Reaper master series has a set of skin tones you can use, along with a
corresponding highlight and shadow.

They have Golden, Olive, Dark, Tanned, Fair, and probably more.

I typically pre-highlight the skin by hitting my black primed model with white
highlights. Then I take the color of choice and apply it to the model.

Here's an example of the Dark Skin with washes and highlights (I think, can't remember
what stage this was).

I just use bestial brown with a brown wash for Afro-caribian skin & bronzed flesh with a sepia wash for Far East skin.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
