What is your most Epic Fail in WHFB? Mine was in a tournament where I rolled four misfires in a row on my dwarf cannons in one turn. Rolled one, re-rolled as per rune, misfire. cannon blows up. Move onto next cannon and repeat. Sad, sad day. A close second is when I had 7 2+ armor saves to roll for and failed 6 of them. these were Dragon Princes.:(

I am a Utah man sir, I live across the green, our gang is the jolliest that you have ever seen, Our co-eds are the fairest, ans each one's a shining star, our yell you'l hear it ringing through the mountains near and far.
Who am I sir? a UTAH MAN am I. A UTAH MAN sir, I will be till I die.

I talk about it all the time on these boards as proof that while crafty movement and tactics can win the day, the game in the end comes down to dice.

4 Dragon ogres with 2x hand weapons charge the flank of saurus warriors. 2 hits, snake eyes. Lizards do no wounds, win by 1 [numbers, banner vs flank], I break, get chased down even with 3d6 vs 2d6.

Also, 3 rat swarm bases charge the flank of my chosen chaos warriors [old codex] with Rapturous standard. They do 3 wounds, I fail 3 saves. They have 3 wounds and a flank. I have a rank, banner, numbers. Lose by 1. Fail, run down. That unit had a sorcerer and my general in it. All told, that cost about 1000 points. By rat swarms.

I had a 10 wound GUO fall in the pit of shades. I've also had my VC general fall in the cracks call spell. I really suck at initiative tests.

GUO falling into pit of shades is a 1/3 chance, so that's not exactly epic fail so much as the spell doing what it's supposed to do.

Kept rolling Power of Darkness with my Sorceress with only 1 D6. I swear, I never rolled higher than a 3.

650 +100 for being a general sounds like an epic fail to me.

My Level 4 Archmages have a knack for miscasting their first spell of nearly every game. Fairly frequently with snake-eyes to follow on the miscast table.

Failing 6 of 7 2+ Rerollable/4+ Ward saves. -___-

While not quite epic, or my most, two recent ones came up in a game:

1) Orc Big Boss and his unit rally, and then are immediately hit by a wild fanatic. Wild Fanatic breaks the unit again, knocks them back through it (again), and wipes out everyone who remained.

2) Orc Big Boss (separate one this time) charges a unit of Skinks, takes one wound from a Stand and Shoot. When he reaches the combat, he wipes out everyone but the brave. Come the braves attack, he rolls the 5 necessary to hit, the 6 necessary to wound, and - with a 2+ armor save - guess what I roll? But to be fair, I did call that he'd fail the roll when I saw it wound successfully.

Some other instances of Epic Fail are my Night Runners (in last edition's rules) reliably passing their leadership checks where as my Eshin Triad could be relied upon to fail, several instances of a rear-exposed unit being spared because my Orcs decided to Animosity, my dreadnought moving six inches through difficult terrain over a period of three turns... nothing super big, but never something small either.

Those Orks and Goblins can be there own worst enemy some times.

My greatest disaster occurred back in 4th ed. My 3000pts of Goblins against a High Elf, Bretonion alliance.

At the end of turn 3 I was winning with 22vps against 3vpts, with only a Knight Errant champion and 20 Elf archers left standing to face me. Then my Gobbos decided they'd had enough fighting the big folk and decided to scrap amongst them selfs. Fanatics, squig hoppers and out of control squigs rampaged through my own squabbling ranks. To add insult to injury the Knight Errant slew my Giant who promptly keeled over on top of my General, by the end of turn 5 my entire army was dead or fleeing the field. Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory

well, I observed two myself at my last fantasy tourney.

#1) was from my plague priest miscasting on the first spell of every game...5 games, five miscasts....luckily he didnt nuke himself on any of those times...

#2) was actually from my opponent....I was in combat with skull taker with my main clanrat unit...he challenges, my unit champ accepts...I had charged, so I go first...

two hits! WOW!

two wounds!? Good Lord!

LOL two failed saves!!!!

one clanrat Clawleader kill the mighty skull taker in a challenge...I about died from laughing...my opponent was needless to say, rather disappointed.

I manage to outflank two units of DE crossbows on a hill with my Cold One Calvary. I set up a charge on the side, with hopes of overrunning right into the next unit. Stupidity test passed, charge good, I roll my dice to hit and.......nothing. 6 dice for the riders...all 1's. 3 dice for the Cold Ones...one hit, no wound. I wind up losing combat and fleeing....fml.

I witnessed a great one my self. back in the 5th edition days we played a team battle, 1500 high elves (me) teamed up with 1500 of undead against two 1500 pt bretonnian armies. Turn one they pray so we go first, we do a little maneuvering, I shoot a little, we cast magic, their turn. they shoot everything they have at his lord on some big monster, or maybe a black coach. point is he wasn't in a unit, so he could be shot. he died, and no other unit of his had a character in it. not one champion or hero, so in 5th ed that ment all his units without some sort of character (and champions were characters in all respects in 5th ed) died immediately. so, in essence after turn one it was 1500 points of high elves against 3000 points of brets. this actually turned out to be one of my most EPIC WIN'S because they didn't wipe me out (thanks to a few nasty 5th ed combos like the dragon blade lance and the potion of strength. 4 automatic strength 9 hits!) and I only lost by one victory point (5th ed victory points were WAY different). One of the best games I ever played. purely flawless in tactics, execution and army build, I was just out matched.

I charged a unit of Orc Boar Boyz into a unit of Wood Elves with Bows.

Bare in mind this unit included my Warboss.
I roll my immense amount of dice and roll 1 HIT!!!
With that one hit, I fail to wound.
The attacks back caused 4 wounds and I failed all of them :(.
I lost combat and failed my Ld check.
I fled a lovely total of 6 inches.
They rolled 12 and wiped out my Warboss.

In the next game I played though, fortune went to me.

A Massive comet of Cassandora obliterated an entire field with only one exception - My Warboss.
