Hi everybody

Just finished the sculpting/building of an Iron Father from the Iron Hands. But there seems to be something missing. Here are two pictures from the front of him. Both with a detachable servoskull and without it.

I thought I was finished but when I look at it I just feel something is missing, any ideas, tips or critique

He is nice and simple. Clean conversion and nice sculpting.

But, he doesn't really say "Iron Father".

I think he needs more servo arms, or maybe a whole servo-harness.

Yeah, think Doctor Octopus. But its a great start. the black and metal colour scheme will contrast well when you paint it.

Looks good but maybe add some bass guitar string from the base of the back pack to resemble mechandrites (sp?) whipping around.

The bionic leg look abit thin, might be better to thicken it up with either a bigger rod or more rods.

More servo arms might also do the trick as Blue Orphen suggested.

Hmmm the general idea seems to be servo harness. The inspiration for this conversion was the image from the IA:Iron Hands article:
But since the rules for the model have changed since that I realise I need to update the inspiration vision. Expect updates.

Okay, so I've updated the Iron Father a bit. This is what's been done so far:
- Added an addition mechanical arm with a flamer
- Added scope to the BP
- Added some bulk (not much) to the front leg
- Added an AM badge to the backpack
- Added a plasma pistol to the servo skull (not visible in the pic) to represent the TL Plasma pistol from a servo harness

Left to do:
- Green stuff work on the backpack to smooth the transitions between AM badge and the rest of the back pack
- GS on the servo skull to add some touches
- GS on the bolt pistol to smooth transition from scope
- Paint (duh!)

I tried adding a third arm but the pose didn't work the way I wanted it so for the moment this is it. The suggested guitar string mechandrites might have been able to fit size wise but isn't what I associate with a bulky Space marine.







So does this look any better?

PS. some of the parts are only blue tacked on so that's why some angles (e.g. the flamer) are a bit wonky

The pics are a bit small to get a good look, but from what you wrote and the pics I think you have nailed it. Good work!

Although some of the shots are blurry in spots, you can tell this is a very nice conversion. Im sure the camera is just having problems focusing because of all the things on it. Looks like an Iron Father to me man. Ive always liked the idea of Iron hands being robots instead of SM and I think you pulled that idea off rather nicely.

Looks much better- very convincing Iron Father. you know, it's the small things that really do it, like the scope for the pistol and the slight amount of extra bulk on the leg.
