I have been an extremely lazy painter and modeler for the past few months. Even when I have free time I haven't been painting my troops, and to make matters worse I have an army of Orks waiting to be painted also! So I figure my solution is to start a blog and let people laugh and poke fun at me until I get them painted to a quality I am comfortable with. I am going to post a quick flowchart for my chapter, and what I have, and what I need still. I have a pretty detailed background written up for them and will eventually post it in the W40K Background thread. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.

The Black Watch Chapter Roster and list:
Green= I already own it, Red= I need to get it.

Chapter Master: Gnaeus Trajanus (Model: M. Calgar/Pedro Cantor)

Captain 1st Co: Scipio Pompeius (Model: Vulkan He'Stan)
Captain 2nd Co: Marcus Justinius (Model: Darnath Lysander)
Captain 3rd Co: Crassus Tigranus (Model: Cato Sicarius)
Captain 4th Co: Gaius Tullius (Model: Kor’sarro Khan)
Captain 5th Co: Lucius Marius (Model: Kayvaan Shrike)

Chaplainus Maximus: Strabos Veritas (Model: Ortan Cassius)

What I currently have: Honor guard, 4xtactical squads, 1 Dev squad, 1 Terminator squad, 1 Sternguard squad, 1 assault squad, 1 Chaplain in Terminator armor, 1 librarian, 1 Dreadnought, 1 WW, 1 Pred, 1 LRC/LRR, 1 Vindicator, 1 Drop Pod.

What I need: Aforementioned Character models, 2xtactical squads, 1 vanilla LR, 2xDakka Preds, 3xDrop pods, Librarian in Terminator armor, Jumpack Librarian, Jumpack Chaplain, 1xAssault Terminators, 3xThunderfire cannon, 4xRhinos, 2xRazorback.

Its not much for now, but I hope to fill out my list in the coming months, and to keep a regular blog on my progress. Thanks again!

Im not one to poke fun since i currently have the same issue of unpainted models laying around everywhere, but consider fun poked at you. Seriously though, hope the blog thing helps motivate you to get some painting done. Hey, if it works i might even do it for myself.

Good luck getting your painting motivation, I find it comes in waves for me. Just dont be too hard on yourself when you dont feel like painting and enjoy the moments when you can't get enough of it!

BTW, did you know there is a Scotish military regiment called the black watch?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Motivated I am, for the time being. I am just working on the rest of Terminators right now, and will be priming everything else shortly.

I surely did, I've even been to their Museum and HQ, Balhousie Castle in Perth. I liked the name and color scheme, so I built a Marine chapter on it. I haven't decided whether or not I will add kilts yet...

ambitious and widespread modeling projects are the procrastinator's friend (as long as you want to keep procrastinating).

Lost in the warp. Halp!

It's easier to add details later -- start off simple, then when you have the time/will, add kilts. (:

Yeah, the kilts will definitely come later. I finished up my termies today and my veteran sergeants. I am motivated already! Pics to follow.

Painting Update: Just finished my sternguard, had a bunch of touch up to do, and am working on my Assualt Marines now. What do y'all think of putting ceremonial Claymores on my veterans? I think that would fit in well with the whole Scottish theme. Also as soon as camera isn't on the Fritz anymore I will post more pics.

From the picture, they certainly do the title of "black" watch justice, ho ho! My sides!

Anyway, are you doing the Black Watch tartan?? What colour are you doing overall?

I think that I am trying to do the BW tartan as my colors, although that might be a bit to dark. They kilts will definitely have to be the proper tartan. I think I might do some conversion work and make one of the honor guard hold a set of bagpipes or something. St. Andrew's Cross will figure into their banners as well.

@Krusty: yeah, you just have to do some conversion work, but you can use them all in a DIY chapter. It is very possible.

Ok, first real update with pictures! I hunkered down, took some time off doing conversion works on my orks, and primed all of my metal minis and tanks, and painted on Chaplain to 95% completion. I just have to drill the gun barrels on his SB and base him. I might wash him one more time, and I have some minor touch up work to do. But for the most part, this bad boy is done.

As alway, thoughts and criticisms are very welcome! Thanks for reading!
