I've been thinking about renting the first one to see what it's like. I don't like the idea of a co-op AI ally who goes around hoovering up all the ammo though, and it seems like something designed purely for co-op with a friend.

Nah, I don't bother playing over XBL with other countries. I've had bad experiences with lag and such on PCs, and I don't think XBL will be much better.. My free XBL Gold that came with my 360 also expires on saturday, and I don't have the time to go down to Blockbuster and rent it.
Might renew my Gold subscription after Christmas though; I usually get some money from overseas relatives.

Hey it's not just the American youths doing that! I had a MW2 match today that was nothing but British hooligans hollerin the N word after every "headshot".
The first one wasn't all that great. I played through with a friend, and besides a few interesting game mechanics (the back to back 360 shooting), I really didn't enjoy it.
I will keep an eye on it, just in case the game is actually any good. At the most, I'll rent it to play it. My game buying money is reserved for games like MW2.
