Well. Since I'm pretty sure they don't really answer rules questions any more, I'm going to say that at the very least he was "re-purposed"

John's purpose was never to answer rules questions.

He heads up the customer service department. As to whether he still answers rules questions, I have no clue.

Ask him via PM. After all, he was on Dakka at one time.
