All,
I have a quick question. How do you play the manticore. Do you play when it gets D3 templates it as a multiple barrage weapon or do you play it as 3 seperate blasts?
Also, how has this tank performed for you in games? Should it always find its way into a list even to replace a LRBT?
Thanks

There are no rules for multiple shot Barrage weapons, but playing it as a Multiple Barrage seems the most sensible option.
The Eldar Codex hasa similar issue with the Reaper Tempest Launcher, which the FAQ says to treat as a Multiple Barrage.

Raw it should always be resolved as a single weapon firing mutliple blasts, regardless of direct or indirect, as the multiple barrage rules refer to multiple weapons firing not a single weapon with mulitple shots, although many folks do not play it this way.

If firing indirectly, I play it as a D3 multiple barrage weapon.
If firing directly, I play it as D3 separate blast weapon.
I think this is the most logical way to resolve the lack of specific rules associated with the vehicle.

We have always just played it as a multiple barrage, makes things more in line with similar weapons such as Tempest Launcher. Plus multiple Barrage can be walked onto two tanks if they keep them close enough ;D

I would use it as multiple barrage.

Since there is no RAW ground either way, I've always played it as multiple barrage, but i wouldn't utter a word if someone asked me not to.

Until GW issue a Guard FAQ that says otherwise, the Eldar FAQ is enough of an indication for me.

By (my interpretation of) RAW, there are no rules for singular weapons that fire multiple Barrage shots. There are rules for units firing multiple weapons with the Barrage rule ( BGB p32, first sentance under "Multiple Barrages"), but having a single weapon fire multiple barrages does not satisfy this requirement. By (my interpretation of) RAW, a lack of rules to say otherwise means that you follow the standard rules for shooting: you resolve each blast marker's hits individually (without Multiple Barrage rules) and then roll collectively to wound.
Insaniak makes a good precedence with the Eldar FAQ, though you could also say by RAW that this only applies to the Eldar. It's a strong precedence though, and one that I am more likely to follow in actual games.
