OK, so I have heard some whispers about the Black Sword giving the Emperor's Champion an extra attack (so he'd have four attacks: 2 + 1 from sword + 1 from bolt pistol). Is this legit? Cause my codex doesn't mention it. But then, I have an old codex.
Also, while I'm at it, does the 5th Ed. BT codex allow Templars to get a free assault weapon per 5 men, and a free heavy weapon per 10 men, like regular SMs?
Thanks.

Umm I don't have the BT 'dex but your point about the CC attacks makes sense. That's most likely how I would play it. Can't help you with the assault weapons though.

I only see it listing +2str. Nothing about extra attack. It is not 2handed, however.
Perhaps I also have an older codex here as well, though.

there is only one Bt codex, so if you have a bt one you got the only one.
on attacks, the emperor's champion has 2, bp+ black sword is another 1 and the charge could be a 4th, so you only get 4 attacks on the charge, and 3 in combat.
on the weapons, no, you need a minimum of five men and a maximum of 10, and 0-10 neophytes, you can purchase 1 assault weapon and 1 special weapon for each squad.
what this truly sounds like to me is that you either need to buy a codex or re-read yours.

Good to know, I had thought so, but . . .

The Champion's got 2 attacks+1 from having two ccw's +1 for the Black sword being a powerweapon and the +1 on the charge for a total of 5 S6 Powerweapon attacks on the charge...this belongs in YMDC though...

Power Weapons don't get a bonus attack (beyond the +1 for two CC weapons).

Chaplaincliff, yeah, there is nothing about any of this in my codex, however, I was wondering if there was a new BT codex that allowed BTs to have free heavy and special weapons like I know the SMs have. However, if there is no new BT codex, well and good.
The reason I was wondering was because my SM codex doesn't have a lot of stuff that I have heard SM players talk about, like the free weapons and several options for veteran squads.

The issue I think you are running into is that with the new SMurfs 'dex they got a lot of streamlining and simplification, we are still on an early 4th edition codex, so we have the armoury et all, don't even consider the space marine 'dex when looking at ours unless you are comparing say a tac squad vs. a crusader squad.
We as the Templars have a seperate stand-alone codex as do the blood angels, dark angels, or space wolves.
the benefit of us having to pay for our special weapons is the fact that we can have them with as few marines as 5, this is a huge boon in some conditions, like when a razorback is in use, a single las-back with a marshal with dual lightning claws and a squad with a power fist and melta-gun, that is an expensive but nice squad.
something i want to suggest is to read a lot on our abilities in tacticas, and the bolter and chainsword ( http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showforum=7) has alot of good articles and tips specific to our army, but that does not mean to leave here, i look at both equally.

So not only are you omnipotent, but you don't even need to provide evidence of being correct?
Clearly, if you haven't heard of it, it can't be true!

Fine then Johnno, show us proof that power weapons do confer a +1 bonus. Show me where it DOES say that. It is common knowledge that power weapons do NOT confer +1 attack for being a power weapon.

Then please show me where a power weapon alone gives plus one attack, because in all my reading its two close combat weapons, or a matched pair of specific close combat weapons.

So you are perfect and know everything when every person here has never heard that? that is a little much even for me, I can be mean, but i try not to, but this is just idiotic, going against the flow with such a strong opinion in one direction is just to be a troll, in fact you sir I label troll.

He may be a troll, but when he charges from under his bridge he won't get an attack for his power weapon!
Seriously though, ignoring armor saves is enough it is 2 + 1 for CCW and maybe +1 for the charge.
