On a stompa there are 3 fire points. I think these are the small windows with grots looking out at the sides and front. Do you think the stompa has fire points anywhere you want them, or just from these modeled fire points.

The fire points should be specifically mentioned in the codex / wherever those rules are noted. It doesn't matter how it is modeled for fire points. Where the codex says there are fire points there are & anywhere else there aren't. Unless of course the codex says simply that there are 3 fire points in which case GW's ever vigilant editing department never ceases to amaze.

Meh my point was I can model a vehicle with 20 fire points but if the codex says there is only one in the back, then there is only one in the back.

as long as the modelling agrees with the printed rules, i'd say go with the modelling. if there are 3 fire points in the rules and three windows (logical fire points IMO), then i'd say you've got it.
