Hey all, yes another question from me >.<

After talking to a mate, we decided to enter the upcoming "all nighter" apocolypse game that will be held at our store. I believe that over 70, 000 points a side is expected, so we decided to get a 3k list together each, and team up. Now, i collect vostroyans, and my army is only pushing 1.5k at the moment, so i decided to give in my love to Imperial Fists and throw a Thunderhammer formation to acompany my Vossies. Now i found this brilliant and easy tutorial to paint the Imp Fists http://cbstudios.co.uk/#/tutorial-imperial/4525393843, but I noticed that GW stopped making their inks a while back, and replaced them with washes. Does anybody know about other companies inks that would be just as good / better?

Thanks for any suggestions / Help.

Jack

I am a rookie painter, and do not even know what really differentiates an ink from a wash :(. I played in 3rd edition when everything was "inks", but myself I can't tell the difference!

Good luck finding a better one!

There are several types of inks; the main ones used for art are shellack based and acrylic based.

Shellack based inks are diluted with distilled water. They do not mix with acrylics though they do mix with each other.

Acrylic inks are basically very thin acrylic paints. Washes are more or less thinned acrylic inks.

Someone gave a recipe for making washes out of acrylic inks... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/261541.page

I am currently using shellack inks. I either use them straight or thinned depending what I want to do.

Indian Ink always needs thinning, it is intensely black.

Daler and Rowney make acrylic inks.

It is used in that tutorial about making washes.

If you want to use Shellack inks the Winsor and Newton are the company.

You should easily be able to find these products in good graphics arts supply shops or online in the UK.

Vallejo Game Color has inks now. I remember hearing they were pretty close, if not exactly like, the GW inks. You can find them here:
