I mentioned in another thread somewhere, out there, in the ether, about having entered the 2009 GW Grand Paint Contest and having won in the single figure category. Below is a link to a PDF from the GW Japan website. It's mostly in Japanese, so it'll be good practice for all you Nihongaphiles.

The pictures of my mini, the Ork Storm Boy Nob, are total gak. I have some other ones at home that I'll try and post to this thread sooner rather than later. You'll notice that the best figure is by far the pastel Chaos Champion Games Day figure painted by a guy named Fukuoka. (Foo - Koo - oka, not Feth you ok a) He won last year and his painting is amazing. Of course, if I were totally insane and did over 20 glazes per colour, I might be able to copy his style. Plus, I don't think he uses GW paint (I'm stuck with it until I find some vallejo)

There were 6 categories: Open, Single Mini, Diorama-vignette, Games Day Mini, Youngbloods and Staff. Staff is the at the bottom.

Spotted one of the Blood Ravens by that other Dakka member from Japan too. Pic quality isn't great, which is unfortunate. I would say about your stormboy, that it needs some muzzle flash to go with the cartridges being ejected

You know, right after I submitted it at the Chiba shop, I was thinking the exact same thing: Muzzle flash. But for what it's worth, I introduced the concept of magnetic balance to the Japanese GW nerds. I hope they can take that ball and run with it.

@ Luna: They shortened my nic-name to "Hago", but yeah your katakana is spot on. As for the articles, they wrote mine in some sort of fictious Japanese Orky language that might be a parody of how Kobe Dock workers spoke in the 1500s or something. Nihongo da ne.

So, what's up with the dual plasma pistol wielding Assault Marine? The conversion's kind of cool, but I'm not sure I understand why it's unpainted - is it just a WIP shot?
