I had someone just trying to convince me that DA smoke launchers give a 4+ cover save AND all penetrating hits are reduced to glancing...

Whats up with that?

Just glancing ... The rules are clear that you use the generic smoke launchers (4+ coversave) unless the codex specifies other wise. You don't get to stack the 2 rules.

Tri's right. In any case the codex rule will supercede the generic rule when determining the effect of (Item / ability)

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

To get the benefit of both, use terrain to gain the obscured rule (>50% cover) and pop smoke as well.

4+ cover save with a downgrade to glance.

Inquisition also gets to do this.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

cool, I was thinking my opponent might have been confusing an example he saw in another game where a vehicle was in cover, and it was a dark angels vehicle, and it had also popped smoke, thus giving it a 4+ and reducing penetrating to glancing. And in this game he wanted the same thing but was clearly out in the open.

Happens I guess, never heard anyone trying that in a tournament though.
