In the SM codex- librarian can become an epistolary for 50 points. What is that? i have searched it- not on librarina page not on wargear .... WHAT is an epistolary? and what does it do

2nd question : It say that Quickening must be used at the beginning of the assault phase and you gain initiative 10 and fleet special rule. When do you use fleet?next turn? is it a mistake and should have written and the beging of the movement phase? or just fleet does not help you at all

10x very much

An Epistolary is a higher rank of Librarian who has more powers. Same thing but better and with a different name.

It's a character upgrade, not wargear. Still ahs the same number of powers, which is two.

I think you are confusing Fleet in 5th ed with Fleet from 4th ed

If you have Run in the Shooting phase you could use "the quickening" to gain Fleet therefore allowing you to assault in the assault phase - hence why you cast it BEFORE moving any assaulters.

Fleet is no longer movement (and it was never in the movement phase anyway) but it lifts the restriction on assaulting when you have run.

Being an EPISTOLARY allows you to use TWO powers in a turn.

Otherwise, you're a CODICER, and you can only use ONE power a turn.

Er, in other words, what n0t_u said!

As has already been said, the Epistolary upgrade lets you use 2 psychich powers per turn.

In 5th, you no longer need fleet to run in the shooting phase. The Quickening simply allows your Librarian to assault after he has made a run move in the shooting phase. Note that he cannot do this if he is attached to a unit, as it only grants the Librarian and not his unit fleet.

See the November SM FAQ for question 2, since Quickening has been erratta'd to be used in its shooting phase. The librarian gets the benefit of the power until the end of the turn in which it's used.

epistolary allows him to use two psychic powers per turn, instead of the usual one.
the wording for quickening is correct. it means that if you ran in the shooting phase, you can still assault in THAT current assault phase. (because the definition of 'fleet' is that the model is allowed to assault after running.)

It's as simple as that.

2500 pts | 1500 pts | 1000 pts | 1000 pts

True, but to clarify. The above posters are still correct. The errata allows the libbie to know if he has fleet before choosing to Run. It would suck to Run, then roll an 11, and not be able to assault or shoot that turn.
