I read through the codex under wings wargear and it says it turns him into jump infantry. So thus, can he deepstrike? Never tried this idea before.

Wings actually say that the models move in the same way as JI.

However, it also actually says they can DS.

so now my Prince can DS...but is it a viable tactic?

That is opinion based. I do not like deepstriking other than with spore mines and lictors. And drop pods or via homers/icons etc. seem fine, though only from watching.

It is viable, but they cannot assault after doing so. Given the move of 12" it is rarely needed to help them get somewhere either.

They can.
Though...I think it's just for the lulz.
Not something to use consistantly.

Oh...and personal icons and icons don't work to guide him in.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Neither do drop pods. I meant that I do not like deepstriking in general.

yeah just for teleports, had to carefully explain to a fellow chaos guy that rule :along with the hard end of the codex: but maybe it could be used as a psychological impact? like a drop pod of dreadnoughts and sternguard hitting your line turn 1? but in my case turn 2+...

edit: eh screw it, I'll just stick him behind a raider and double charge along with my termy chaos lord w/ retinue

Yeah, this is usually pretty useless. The soonest he can appear is turn 2 (and that's only a 50/50 chance), and then the soonest he can assault is turn 3. In three turns a winged prince can get almost anywhere. Better to start him on the board, covered by terrain and/or a landraider (or at worst, a Rhino for a 4+ cover save).
