My Blood Bowl Orc team is finally nearing completion. I'm just about done with the models, but before I add static grass to the bases, I'm curious, should I be varnishing the models before I add the grass, or should I wait until after? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Definately varnish before adding the static grass.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I use a spray on matte varnish, and I always do it after the grass is on. The only problem you can run into that I've noticed is if you don't clean off the model well enough you can "glue" spare peices of grass to the model. Other than that I've never had a problem with it. It doesn't affect how well the grass stands up or anything.

Cheers.

Before, unless you want bits of flock stuck to your model.

Really... I've always varnished my models before adding grass (but after the rest of the base). I've never had any problems with grass getting stuck to the model. Interesting.
