3 Deffkoptas 3TL rokkits 1 Buzzsaw 1 big bomm give the saw and the bomm to 2 different koptas and now you have to take 4 wounds to take one casualty thanks to wound allocation. Just thought that was a valid point that was left out.

Good article.

I edited the range figures. Rokkits have a 24" range. So at the start of the game you turbo-boost scout 24" then you move 12" and shoot rokkits up to 24"--that's a 60" range if you go first, or a 42" assault range (24+12+6) for a S7 buzzsaw!

The problem with going first is that veteran players know the threat radius of a kopta so they will place things vulnerable to koptas (like vindicators--a prime t1 kopta target!) away from the koptas. This is fine if it means the unit is now closer to something else of yours. For example, if I'm going first in a pitched battle scenario I depoly my two rokkit koptas (1 with a buzzsaw) on my left and my trukks or battlewagons to my right. By depolying away from my koptas they are closer to my assualt hammer.

Also, I disagree with that outflanking is useless. Even if koptas get the wrong edge for their outflank roll they can still turbo-boost on for their nice cover save, then move 12" and shoot 24" the next turn. Reserving them can also be fine because if they come in late in the game they can contest objectives.

PROSECUTOR: By now, there have been 34 casualties.

Thanks buddie.

I've got confused over the rokkits with shootas, which are 18". And turbo boost is 24" not 18".

I've had them turn up on the wrong side of the board out of battle. Taken two turns of turbo boosting to get itno range - annoying! Its luck of the dice that one, not a reliable tactic.

I don't agree that keeping them in single units could be a good choice. Doing that, you'll add 2 more easy kill point. really easy and annoying.

The point is that it's a cheap throwaway unit, adding in anymore would be pointless.

Page 76 BRB, Under "Scouts" - "Any scouts may make a normal move. This is done exactly as in their movement phase, except that they must remain more that 12" away from any enemy"

So if your FLGS says that you can't turbo-boost in a normal movement phase, then you can't in your scout move.

they interpret the rule for turbo boosting as "instead of making a normal move"

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

"...but before the first player begins his turn, any scouts may make a normal move. This is done exactly as in their Movement phase, except that during this move, scouts must remain more than 12" away from any enemy."

The only exception in place is that they must remain 12" from any enemy. The actual problem is that the turbo-boosters rule states:

"When using their turbo-boosters they may move up to 24" in the Movement phase."

Whilst the scout move is "...as in their movement phase..." it is not 'the' movement phase. On the other hand, we are directed to treat this movement exactly as in the movement phase, and that is when the special rule is allowed - it is under the 'MOVEMENT' heading in the 'BIKES' section. The logic starts to become circular at this point. For the sake of simplicity, I don't have a problem with anyone but Dark Angels utilising the Turbo-Boost USR during their scout move, because they are specifically not allowed to. I also read this as intent, but ultimately intent cannot be guessed at. Only the rules as written can be used, and these can be read a lot of different ways. You're going to have to convince your local players yourself. Good luck!

EDIT: Gah, I forgot - they FAQ'd it - print that out and show them. Laugh. Problem solved.

I like this article a lot, most of the time, I'm up against an army of imperial guard or tau, as 3 of my friends play those races. especially in those battles it's a must to gun down their heavy tank support as quikcly as possisble, because my orks won't survir long in the crossfire.

Thx for the tips!
