As empire when I use Aldred's Casket of Sorcery, do I steal the spell (the enemy can no longer cast it) and then discard the spell afterwards (removing it from the game), or do I borrow the spell for a turn and remove Aldred's Casket of Sorcery from the game?

The first. You keep the Casket unless it gets destroyed by some spell effect and you remove the spell that you stole.

The Casket is currently the ultimate way to shut-out Lord Kroak. He only knows one spell, so nailing him with it will ruin your opponent's day entirely.

I swear I read some place that if Lord Kroak was forced to lose his spell he would only lose the level of the spell he tried to cast.

I am a Utah man sir, I live across the green, our gang is the jolliest that you have ever seen, Our co-eds are the fairest, ans each one's a shining star, our yell you'l hear it ringing through the mountains near and far.
Who am I sir? a UTAH MAN am I. A UTAH MAN sir, I will be till I die.

KI-YI

Were up to snuff, we never bluff were game for any fuss, no other gang of college men dare meet us in the MUSS. So fill your lungs and sing it out and shout it to the sky, we'll fight for dear old Crimson for a UTAH MAN AM I!!

Indeed, the Casket has great advantages. The downside of course is it's low range of effect and that it's rather useless versus an opponent with no wizards or a piddly lvl 1 scrollcaddy whose spell you can easily shut down.

Now the range factor malus can be seriously mitigated by giving the Casket to a Captain on a Pegasus (better known as a 'Casketus', which in itself is derived from 'Captasus' signifying a Captain on a Pegasus obviously).

He's extremely manouvrable meaning he can get in range quickly and often make sure he's out of LoS of the enemy so he can't be charged/shot at. While performing his duties he also doubles as a march blocker. Firing of any spells he might steal is just an added bonus. Give him a Pistol so he has something to do during the shooting phase as well!

He is rather fragile though, or better said, the unarmoured Pegasus is. So use him carefully for if he ends up on foot he's likely to be cornered and squashed by the enemy. An enemy who will probably quickly wise up to the Casketus and in subsequent battles devote far more attention to him.

As an Empire player, might I also point out www.warhammer-empire.com ? Absolutely the best Empire specific site and back in the days when I joined (I was directed by someone from Dakka as well, just after the site was created) my generalship seriously improved, also because of the great tactics articles the site has. Have a look around, you'll see me hanging around with the same Avatar and name as well.

If you use the casket on Lord Kroak, you steal a powerlevel of his one spell, not the whole spell. Randomize which casting level of the spell you steal (and hope for the big one). It's in the Lizardmen FAQ.

All answers being already given, I will merely nitpick your word choice.

“Site” = location
“Sight” = vision
