For sheer entertainment value, and not to mention horror value with Roseanne as the host, you should all see this video. Saying things like, "We have lost $27 trillion in this crisis," or, "we love Naomi Cline," are just classic. This is why the US can't have a good debate on Socialism, between the die hards who want socialism and Che-nation and the Right wing horrors that are spawned by Fox News, I think that any debate is a lost cause. My dad actually told me the other day that I cannot be a Christian and have socialist sympathies. Don't you love uninformed debates?

Christianity is a great big moral ponzi scheme after all, so your dad is probably right. Socialism sounds nice when certain people talk about it, but it just doesn't hold up.
Tut tut now, I will not tolerate blanket attacks like that Warpcrafter. I was simply using that example to illustrate the many problems with the Right Wing as well....

I am already in Frisco... Well, technically Alameda/Oakland/San Leandro. I am moving anywhere, or is everyone coming to me?
You are not part of the Pacific plate so we are moving up in your direction.
Actually, living in San Leandro, my house is almost directly over the Hayward fault. Judging by stress fractures left from the 1989 earthquake, I am going to say the living room and bedrooms are on the North American Plate, and the bathroom and kitchen are on the Pacific.
I base this on something I once read about a retrofit for the UC Berkley Stadium:
1. Fault line
2.Pacific Plate
3. North American Plate
4. Fault rupture block
5. Existing seating bowl
6.Precast-concrete and steel seating bowl
Oh, what is that?
Possibility of a 6.7 magnitude earthquake on the Hayward Fault by 2032? NM, When I look at it that way... Just... NM...

Ok, they might be a bit 'wooly', but if I had to choose some americans to be stuck in a lift with, I would pick those guys over Tea-Party folks all day long.
Well atleast were not as crazy as texans. But yeah captilism doesnt reward the rich and punish the poor. it rewards the hard working and punish the lazy.

Economics as a proxy for morality.
Seriously, economics is just a range of systems to allocate resources as efficiently and effectively as possible. It has nothing to do with what people deserve.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
garret wrote:@sebster: so your saying that someone who works ten hours a day shouldnt get paid more then the man who just sits on his couch and collects welfare?
No, he's saying that economics isn't designed to answer that question. Capitalism is an economic system, not a moral one.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

No, it rewards the guy with enough money to found the company, punishes those who work hard, and kills the lazy.
