Just wondering how popular NetEpic is? Does anyone play it or is Epic A the default rules set these days?

"You smell dat? Do you smell dat? Napalm, son. Nofing else in da galaxy smells like dat. I love da smell of napalm in da morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' 'ummie body. Da smell, you know dat gasoline smell, da whole hill. Smelled like... victory."

I Know a number of people who play netepic. I recently rediscovered after playing the original space marine and titan legions all those years ago.
Sorry, not much use as I'm the other side of the world

I have approx 22,000 points of squats and 18,500 of orks.

To be specific, netepic is not a version of the original Space Marine (Epic A is its offspring) but of second edition.

WE dabble occasionally, but to be fair its shows you how cunky 2nd edition was by the end - simply too many modifiers and special rules to remember.

However, as a source document it is excellent

I'm *this* close to selling off all of my Epic stuff...

I don' think there's an Epic player anywhere near me in Massachusetts...

Talk about a missed opportunity for GW!

EPIC is what should have been re-born and pushed, not Apocalypse!

What is exactly NetEpic?

I've only played the only version that has been published in Spain. The 1997 one, with loads of Space Marines and Orks in the box. I still have the rulebooks, tokens, and that stuff, even the scenery. But I dont have the minis >_< I regret so much having sold them.

It is probably the best GW game I've played. Sometimes still think in buying some minis and doing a small army but... I would say that now there are less minis available, and way more expensive than when I bought the box (the price in GW site is double than it was).

NetEpic is a fan based version of epic,
they are doing a better job than GW that for sure!

Are tau available in NetEpic? I assume not as the SM/TL rulesets predate the tau by a considerable span...

IIRC, NetEpic is MUCH closer to what the game was back in the Space Marine/Titan Legions days, before the system was messed with that produced a (allegedly) smoother game system at the expense of variety, options and, potentially, fun.

Anyone else remember everything getting reduced to 'Guns" and "Big Guns"?

The horror!

I liked Epic 40K, but I know I was in the minority there. I did play much more when Titan Legions was the Epic edition of choice though. ph34r my Squat Land Trains

Nice to see theres still a few players of Epic around.... the world..... I loved Epic it was far more fun than 40k, larger scale battles, massive titans, all good! I agree with Alpharus, it should have been reintroduced and pushed instead of Apocalypse, then again its all abot $$$$ for GW shareholders and not enjoyment for the gamer anymore.

NetEpic allows every race that is currently in 40k and more, try playing as the Smurfs for example lol.

I had sold off all of my Epic stuff, but luckily i managed to pick up a nice Ork army off of a New Zealand version of ebay (Trademe) for a good price, and a good mate picked up an 18000 point Titan legion/space marine army for $450 NZD (half that for you americans and third it for you poms).

Apropos of nothing, your name reminds me of an old Japanese cartoon about a giant robot I used to love as a kid - Gaiking.

One of his weapons was called "Hydroblazer", which, of course, he the pilot yelled out prior to each use!

A hydroblender is a aluminium 'chamber' with an inlet and outlet for mixing soap concentrate with water, used in New Zealand in rural fire fighting (wild fire in the US). I do yell at the guys to get the hydroblender a lot if that helps lmao

This is from a video game, not the 70's cartoon, and the quality is iffy, but it gives you the general idea:

And yes, it starts in his nose/mouth and he then throws it!

Yeah!

Epic was the most fun even if it was hell painting those tiny figures. A couple at an FLGS showed interest in playing again or starting to play.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Space marine was the best. The new epic Armageddon was by Jervis which is why its messed up.

Mate and I have played a few games of NetEpic 5 now and really enjoying it! (Marine v Ork) Branching out into 'paper proxies' until we can scratch together enough figures for a 2nd army each (Eldar v Squats)

Epic is fun, but yeah, very few people play it.

I've played both NetEpic and Normal Epic, and I prefer NetEpic.

Update, now have 18k of Ork, 6k of Space marine, 6k of Eldar and 6k of Titan Legion, even managed to pick up 5 Mega Gargants and an Imperator Titan! Eay enough to pick up figs from Ebay or our local version called Trademe. Stuff is heaps cheaper than 40k and far more fun! Now just have to find more local players!

I want to play NetEpic So bad...

Where is a good place to buy the models or should i go with standard Games Workshop models???

I am thinking about playing either Imperial Guard or Space Marines. Can anyone give me some advice?

I am a official convert of net epic!

Ebay is a good place to start, watch for a while then bid and buy as that way you'll gauge the true prices better. Ork is normally a tad cheaper than other armies as people dont tend to like them for some reason (i love 'em!). Euro prices tend to be higher than US prices (and not just because of the exchange rate). Try looking around the world at other auction sites as well, many countries allow overseas bidding and buying and freight charges aint to bad with all the competition amongst airlines these days.

If you don't mind proxies in your gaming I'd also take a look at

Epic is my favorite wargame of all time, and NetEpic seems like a good ruleset. My group hasn't played it yet, but we're all getting our books printed and we'll start gaming soon.

Ground Zero Games (www.groundzerogames.net) do a good range of 6mm scale infantry and armour that will get you a good sized force relatively cheaply. Dark realm are pretty too but a bit expensive for my tastes
