Now, as a hopeful Ork player (Just played my first game yesterday, using the Assault at Black Reach set, and lost, but LOVED how Orks played, and made my custom "Waagh! Boss on Bike" as I plan on "Speed Freakz") I was given 2 sets of the basic 11 Ork Boyz as a bithday gift from a friend who I play other games with. What is a good setup for 'deez boyz to be put in? I plan on playing Speed Freakz, and already have a set of war bikez and a Trukk.

Any suggestions?

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

Buy/make them a trukk (with red paint job!), give 'em some choppers and a nob with a powerklaw/bosspole, and let the krumpin' begin

Er, a good suggestion, but what I mean is, with only those two sets, what is the best I can do?

Like, I see a Big Shoota on the sprue (which is making me light headed from the primer~ )

Should I use a Big Shoota, or a Rokkit Launcha?

Rokkit.

Big shoota is near useless, IMHO.

Hey fellow speed freeker! Just as jih said. Nob with Pk and bosspole, sluggas and choppas and a trukk with red paint job. I give my trukks wreckin ball and reinforced ram but hte upgrades are up to you. Consider one unit of shoota boyz, they can zoom and hold onto an objective.

Sounds great. I'll do that now.

I am worried I'm going to glue something on that won't let me field the unit anymore, so I am trying my hardest to ask first. *Chuckle*

Big shoota. If you fire a rokkit at something hard, the rest of the squads shots go to waste entirely. If you want anti-tank, bring real anti-tank or assault.

Or neither, I usually don't take the upgrade for slugga squads, which is how you should run trukk boyz.
I'd recommend neither, you can always knock the arms off later if you decide you really want the upgrade for some reason

Its a good idea

Honestly, bugger Big shoota's and rokkits. Your boyz want to go as fast as possible in the first turn, so no shooting, and the same in the second- or disembark and chop some faces up. If you didn't charge in the 2nd, hopefully you will in the 3rd. You're not gonna use 'em, so don't pay the points.

... But then again half the fun of orkses is conversions innit If you are going to make Lootahs or tankbustas, you can get some use out of those weaps that come on the sprue

I don't think that either heavy weapon is worth it, I put them on when I started, but latter I ripped um right off. Speed freak succeed by hitting fast, geating into combat, and staying there. At least thats what the boys do. You cant shoot when in combat so all those fancy weapons are suggest hunkis of metal that drop your attacks by one. Buy a KFF mek for sure, then some truck, more boys. Then move on to some havy hitters, burna boys, nobs, mega nobs, mabye even Gaz. Scope out the forum for Dash's speed freak list. It's good. I prefer green tide myself, but it's all a matter of taste.

They're fine for shooty or footslogging armies, they just aren't great for mechanized/SF assaults.

Definitely buy a KFF mek though, almost every ork list variant should be bringing one. Especially ones with any vehicles.

Ram+Plank imo. Every ork player has their own opinion on trukk equipment
Just try to keep them cheap.

Yeah, a lot of players don't bother with rokkits or big shootas for trukk boyz, on the reasonable grounds that they'll get very few chances to shoot before getting into close combat.

But for walking boyz, especially shoota boys, I think either rokkits or big shootas are worth considering - even though orks are terrible shots, your opponent still has to worry about taking some long range shooting from you, blowing up something valuable of his at just the wrong moment - very orky

22 boyz eh?
Id say stick 11 in a made up trukk, 11 more in another made up trukk, then make up a KFF big mek and stick him inside one of the trukks. Presto, youve got yourself a decent start to a kult of speed army.
Welcome to Da Orks, forgot to mention that in your painting thread
